If internet forum consensus were real life consensus then the ps3 would be the number one console this gen, but we all know thats not reality.

Now as for the consensus, Gears 3 is a product of fan feedback. Yes, it can make a difference.

If I can think of a more pc way to describe people whose only comeback is to regurgitate what people on the forums say then I will use that instead of "badwagon hoppers"... my apologies.

Yes fan feedback can make a difference. To bad epic doesn't listen to fan feedback. Thats why the series is in the toilet and will continue to shrink.

I think it does. But regardless it sold more. With victory comes the spoils. It is done.

Many fans believe God of War will have longer legs. It may take it back, but itll be down the road.


What matters is that the God of War franchise has sold more than Gears of War franchise. So you see, that's victory for God of War right there :P.

Good point. That has been Sales' argument over the years about Forza and GT5. "But forza has sold more overall, so it's the bigger franchise". Knowing him, he'll realize his mistake and rationally admit that God of War is the bigger frachise. Yup, any minute now.

Just curious though. I saw several posts of 360 fans arguing that Gears fans refuse to buy this game, as it is a bad game and a prequel. Who's buying this game anyway then? Casuals?


I think it consists of the hardcore Gears fanbase and those fans which relied on IGN's fanboy review. IGN is very popular, and they didn't review GOWA very well, so that would definitely have some impact on the sales of the game. You know, one of my friends has also refused to buy the game based on IGN's review.

The way people remember gears 1 on the internet is inflated due to nostalgia, but the way people remember gears 2 is also taken to an extreme due to issues with the launch. None of these extremes really represent what either game really was.

I can find it. But I shouldn't have to. He said it numerous times when promoting gears 2 ("Bigger, better, more badass"). He's stated it in more concrete terms as well but you get the point. Its not like he was going to release a game and tell people that its worse than the last one. Don't be silly. When gears 2 came out he said it was the best. When gears 3 came out he said it was the best. And I'm sure had he been around when gears judgement came out he would have once again proclaimed it the best. It was sort of his job.

And since your so obsessed with internet consensus maybe I can find a site whose job it is to track that kind of thing and see what it has to say:

So your argument that gears 2 is considered by far the worst in the series based on consensus doesn't really hold up. Professional consensus puts it above gears 3 (we won't bother talking about judgement) and user consensus has it tied with gears 3. Gears 2 was a game that was damn near unplayable for several months and it still manages to be on par with gears 3 "smooth and polished" game. That should tell you that maybe gears 3 had bigger issues.

So I've got sales numbers and metacritic... You fellas have..... each other :)

But again this isn't about internet consensus, (I could care less). The fact is gears has been failing ever since it took on its new direction and there is a reason for that and I don't need internet consensus to figure it out.
