Forums - Gaming - (Updated: GoW wins - Both bad) Sales - God of War Ascension vs Gears of War Judgement

Gears won whoo hoo!!!!! The axis of the earth is once again balanced. How many weeks out will this thread get updates for.? I think we can all agree both games are basically flops compared to their predecessors. I guess everybody will continue to argue which game flopped worse though.

I did predict that Gears drop off would the same or slightly more than God of War from week 1 to 2, so I was right Yesssss!.

GOW is better than Godow and it shows in sales numbers.

Then you must think GT is better than Forza, yes?

Hint: Higher sales =/= better game.

No, in that particular case I trust my own preferences. Problem? #dealwithit

Nice internet argument

Wow, so were supposed to give the GOW acronym to a game that at this point has only sold like 60,000 more copies. Big woop. If it was over a million copies, then it could be a little justified, but it still couldn't because really God of War came out before Gears so shouldn't it be the given the acronym.

In any case I'm still calling God of War=GoW. And Gears or War=Gears. :-p

dont get sucked into the nonesense, i remember a thread when a first joined, it was about the pre order chartz. the OP ended up changing the thread tittle to "silly god of war vs gears of war cock fight, oh and some pre order stuff" im willing to bet it was the longest pre-order thread ever.

here is the link, even if you make sense you will still be sucked in into the stupid argument so trust me, just ignore it

Your absolutely right. Gears took it, so lets all just move on :)

Gears doesn't deserve it.

I think it does. But regardless it sold more. With victory comes the spoils. It is done.

Many fans believe God of War will have longer legs. It may take it back, but itll be down the road.

What matters is that the God of War franchise has sold more than Gears of War franchise. So you see, that's victory for God of War right there :P.

Good point. That has been Sales' argument over the years about Forza and GT5. "But forza has sold more overall, so it's the bigger franchise". Knowing him, he'll realize his mistake and rationally admit that God of War is the bigger frachise. Yup, any minute now.

Just curious though. I saw several posts of 360 fans arguing that Gears fans refuse to buy this game, as it is a bad game and a prequel. Who's buying this game anyway then? Casuals?

I'd like to buy the game, as a Gears fan myself. But I don't feel like paying 60 euros for it, you know, because this game is not in my top priority list. I don't doubt it will be a good game, and it will have a great co-op campaing and modes to keep entertaining months after its purchase - something that happened with the other Gow's as well -. But it just feels tacked-on. I wouldn't have minded if they stopped the series in the third one. At least they could have waited more time before making this one. I don't know. I'm not in a hurry for it.

Waiting for a price cut is (almost) always a good idea. Even if it feels tacked-on, as long as it offers you months of entertainment, I say buy it and enjoy it. Prequel, sequel, doesn't matter as long as you're having fun.

I know, but it is what I'm telling you: I don't feel like paying for it full price. I payed full price for Gow3 and didn't regret it, but I will not hurry for it.

And yes, I agree. As long as you have fun - which is the main purpose of videogames - it doesn't matter wether it is a new Ip, the seventh entry in a franchise, the most putrid game ever done or a masterpiece.

Gears on consoles has outsold god of war on consoles.  As a complete franchise across 10 or 13 games God of war comes out on top against 4 gears games.  God of war has obviously made a lot of money, nobody is argueing with you on that, or else they wouldnt make them.

I am a huge gears fanatic and I havent bought Gears:J because they changed too much for the worst.  Soon as i saw EPIC wasnt making it my excitement quickly faded.  It is kind of like Uncharted Golden Abyss.  Sure it is uncharted but it leaves behind things that made it good in the first place like Naughty Dog.

Unofficially, you could add 964,831 on top of Gears Of War 1 sales.

I don't think that every change was for the worst. Indeed, there are some horrible things (Most of the modes don't have DBNO) or the fact that you hold two weapons now and switch pressing Y (So only Lancer and Gnasher, or Lancer and Snub Pistol). I liked the fact that grenades are thrown within a button, but that means no more proximity mines now.

However, you have not one, but two campaings. The second one being designed by Epic (In fact, the gameplay is a reminiscent of Gow3 and not Gow:J), you have Overrun (fuck, they ditched Horde ;_;) and you have co-op modes to keep you entertained for weeks. I don't see the problem, I just don't want to pay 60 for it. Perhaps 40 or 35 is more fair.

Series went downhill since gears 3. Even though gears 3 is supposedly made by Epic I can see people can fly's influence all over that game. That game abandoned the atmosphere of previous gears in favor of arcadey gameplay and now they've taken it even further with gears J. I shudder to think what gears 4 will be like.

I also don't get why you like grenades being thrown with one button. It was never that difficult in the previous gears to switch to nades and quick toss with a tap of RT. Mapping nades to the bumper just encourages spamming. That was not a change for the better, it feels like they are trying to mimick uncharted which is just sad. I can't think of any change they made that improved the game.
