I just wish Sansa would get out of the damn castle already and go on an adventure like the other Starks.

Is he taking a break after this? I read some place he was more interested in pursuing his studies. It seemed as if he intended to take a break after the show.

Time does pass in the books (I mean just going from Winterfell to King's Landing is over a month travel), but the issue is all characters in the show were "aged up" about 3-4 years.  This was done because having 14-15 year olds having sex is something even HBO was not comfortable with showing.  Have to keep in mind in medieval time people grew up much faster and once you could bare children it was expected you would.

So, for Bran instead of being a boy of 7 at the start he is around 10-11 or age of puberty when changes are most dramatic in appearance.  I do not blame the show, real life logistics make it impossible to film within the exact confines of a stories reality, especially with children.

Well, a bit.  The point is what Joffrey was accostumed to with Sansa is not what he is getting now.  Sansa was naive, as would most girls her age be.  Look to Cersei as an exmaple of how that cynicism creeps in as the dream romance crumbles.  I don't hate Sansa, she is a real person and has flaws, but what the story is about is how those traits can be good or bad things.  In King's Landing what is worst in us is often most valued (look towards Peter Baelish).

Honestly not sure, they even stop and Ygritte talks about giants watching him hammer in a mammoth tusk.

I watched the episode while in train, back on my way home, on my nexus 7. Seems someone else caught my attention.

A Song of Ice and Fire has all the emotions and thoughts of the human experience.  The main plot points are just the surface as it is the characters and their personalities and interaction within this complex world that make it such a joy.  It is a dark world that is often unforgiving, but that is what makes it feel real and the victories feel so earned.

I'm looking for a factual answer. Semi-in-universe mysticism is not helpful.

That is a factual answer. The answer is no, your reading is not wrong, but plot summaries never tell the whole picture.
