Exterminate the human race.

Well, that doesn't seem harsh at all!

If you think about it, that's one of the ''nicest'' things that could happen to earth, and it doesn't make me proud at all...

How is it one of the nicest things that could happen to earth ? How does the planet benefit from the extermination of the human race.

Many species we are pushing towards extinction would be saved, and the environment would benefit from no longer being our punching bag.

I'm pretty sure species went extinct before any trace of humans existed on this planet.

As for the environment ... um who cares? Setting aside the fact that the impact that humans have on the environment is negligible, what value will the earth have to anyone or anything if humans are extinct? The environment will be destroyed eventually as a result of the sun burning up all of its hydrogen. The only thing that could possibly save the planet would be humans through some elaborate process of moving the whole planet somewhere else (never even heard of that being done even in sci-fi ). So yeah this planet is doomed in the long run even if all humans were wiped out tomorrow.

A lot of people

Unfortunately, you are right. I was just trying to point out the fact that caring about the environment is, ultimately, pointless.

Also, the idea that anyone would consider eliminating humanity in order to prevent supposed damage to a big chunk of dirt flying through space is pretty disturbing.

Would you prefer to live 5 years or 50 years?  This is in relation with this topic.   Sure planet Earth wont be here forever but keeping it here and keeping humanity for as long as possible is better to most people than having earth destroyed in a matter of a few years becuase we are ultimately making bad decisions.

Understandable, but my point is that the Earth itself has no value to anyone if humans are not here to live on it. I was responding to a comment from someone that believes that "the world" would be better off if humanity went extinct. It is just as irrational as someone trying to kill me in order to prevent further damage to my Xbox from my use of it ... the Xbox has no rights that I am violating just as the planet Earth and no other planet for that matter has rights capable of being violated.

You would be killing an entire species that actually has rights in order to save a bunch of dirt flying through space that has no intrinsic value. Sounds insane to me.

Not everybody has these views though.  To me i dont see us as being more important than animals.  We may be smarter, that is our defense as an animal.  However it doesn't make us more important.  that is just my opinion.  The only way Earth would have no value is if every living organism went extinct. Wouldn't you say that this planet needs plants for us to survive?  So in a way isn't plants the most important living organism on Earth?  But then again they need us to survive so in away we all help one another out to survive. However human's stupidity leads to a lot more senseless death than good. Sure we do good but we are horrible in a lot of ways too.

Increase my manhood.

Abolish organized religion. Faith is fine.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

Increase the length of human life. I would double it.

Go back in time and make the Dreamcast a huge success resulting in SEGA still being in the console business

This is gonna sound weird, but i would wish for the Human race to disappear, including myself.
This is actually an act of kindness. Life is a cruel sad joke. Awareness is the worse curse we ever "cast" into ourselves.

But given that we have no option, might aswell enjoy it anyway we can. :)

I guess that's the truth...

80% of the population are morons, I'd rectify that.

Every human would be equal.

Take my love, take my land..

One could ask where's the "fairness" in one species, humans, getting priority over thousands of others?

Of course we value our own kind over others, we're programmed to.

Honestly, things like humans repopulating species on other planets and such, that's all a bit far fetched and distant compared to the here-and-now reality of our destruction of thousands of species.

We haven't had priority in the past.

Number of species is not even relevant we are all one in the end, the species classification is human made and you can't put a value on it anyway. 1000 species are not more worth than 1.

Nothing is fair in life and death thats my point, the human extinction would not be better for life. We are life we are part of nature who decides whats better ? Nobody does.

The destruction of species is bad because ?

The repopulating life after disasters  (not necessarily on other planets) is just to show you the only objective metric that exist for life is survival and if Humans exists life has a theoretical chance of prolonged survival. So its objectively speaking "better" for life if humans continue to exist.

Its infact not better for life if humans die in order to save animals. Its better for those animals only.

1000 species do matter more than 1. Would you let one person kill 1000 others, when killing him could save them?

And you act as though no other intelligent beings capable of "saving" life could or do exist.
