Forums - Nintendo - Quick Look at Some Unity Footage on Wii U at GDC

Anything that brings creative indie games to a broader audience is a good thing.

I'm guessing Nintendo is going to bank on Indie devs, they're clearly making a push for them. I guess they realize that the next big break out hit isn't likely to come from conservative, large, third party devs. Not only that, Indie devs just want the chance to show off their ideas. Established 3rd parties seem to want nothing but money hats.

It would be best for Nintendo to fund and "money hat" smaller studios. Even before Epic said that UE4 is not coming to the Wii U, I knew that the established 3rd parties would be unreliable.

Okay for some reason I don't understand what's going on. Is Unity a game of sorts? Can someone help me out please.

its a game engine

Oh, okay that was simple enough.  Lol.  Thanks !!!

Anything that helps developing for the console is a good thing! I wonder how big is Nintendo's involvement with these fellas. Nintendo never shared their engines back in the Wii days (like Super Mario Galaxy's fantastic engine), which would've helped third parties a lot.

I doubt third parties would have bothered.

Well you're probably right there, but I'm sure some studios would've appreciated the support, like Grasshopper, HVS or Namco. But it's a bit late to argue, anyway :P

So we arenot getting unreal engine 4, but we are getting this? A different engine?

well PS4 will have support to Unity too :)

That two screen setup looks interesting, isometric view on the gamepad and a third person on the TV. You could even switch controls between dual-stick or regular shooter.
