Call of Duty was bigger this past gen, but Mario will endure for longer and will remain on top.

Also, you didn't include handheld Mario & Call of Duty. No cheating!

I also didnt include handheld call of duty games.  I was talking about home consoles. Ill put that in the OP

Based on them figures COD, but then its multi-platform and has 24 games to Mario's 15.

But I would argue Mario, as less than 30mil behind despite being exclusive to one console is very impressive.

Also thats a hell of alot of COD games in 7 years!

Include the handheld games
- Mario dominated on DS too

Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.

it is actually only like 7 CoD games.  They are just showing different consoles.

Oh I had no idea the PS3 versions were that close to the 360 ones.

OT: Right now obviously CoD but I don't see CoD's popularity lasting decades.

mario is well known, among everybody. he is the literally the icon of video games. the guy is pretty much the definition of popular culture. though Call of Duty is massive, the sales are huge. its not as well known among non gamers as mario is (nothing will ever be) but its currently a bigger game that caters to a bigger audience.
my point is, even though mario is more popular, CoD is the bigger game

I know! lol. 3 MW's 2 BO's 1 W@W, COD3 and i've spent way to much time playing them. But still less games released and all on one console I say Mario gets the win.

Makes no sense. You're ignoring half the video game market. You even included PC numbers for COD -- how is that a home console?
