I wonder if this has any credence to the rumors that MS is having a hell of a time getting good yields out of their APU design.

Are they having those issues right now? I thought those cleared up end of last year. Maybe this is where Sony is putting the money they saved by going x86 and having AMD do Microsoft Beastie Boys's sytle. SABOTAGE! lol

No, but really I'm starting to doubt what MS is actually going to have hardware wise and I'm pissed we might have to wait longer for a reveal. The damage from PS4's reveal hasn't even fully settled yet. GDC just ended. Another month delay, another month of steady next gen reveals that won't say Xbox3 on them. Who knows if this will matter in hind sight, but right now MS is missing out on everything while Sony is dancing in the streets. I hope they don't think that Fall and the holidays are the only times people pay attention to gaming.

I do not understand this type of thinking.  Sony did not even show you a console but some how you believe they are on track to have it mass produced by November.  On the other hand, MS doesnt give out any info on what they are doing and suddenly they have issues, problems ect. Why would you be pissed that MS doesn't want to show their competition their hand until they are ready.  Why should MS show their hand early because Sony wanted to get the jump on marketing.  The thing is, if both consoles are coming out in November, it doesn't matter if MS reveal it in April, May or at E3.  They evidently have a plan and nothing that Sony has done has made them change it.

What would be a difference is if MS actually have a working final product running actual games at their press event instead of games running behind the scenes using a PC.  This gives more credence of what the system can do then a press event that really did not say alot.  I would love for MS to reveal the nextbox now but I can easily wait until E3.  As I have noticed, its not who starts first but who can successfuly execute their stragety that wins the day.

Everybody is expecting a weaker machine so the forums could celebrate. What happens if:
- both consoles are equal spec per spec ?
- MS comes with a beast of machine?

Both consoles will roughly be about the same, just as the PS3 and X360 are about the same. This is a no-brainer. Money buys you power, almost linearly. If you want to "beast the PS4" - with the known specs around a $500 price tag - you will have to make a $800-$1000 console. Not going to happen. Should the NextXBox turn out to be (slightly) weaker, MS will make up with advertising $$$, lots of advertising $$$.

They are adjusting the specs
8,1 GB RAM DDR5 on the WAY =D

I think MS knows very well what their system can do and what Sony's system can do. With all the "entertainment gadgetry" within the NextBox system, they knew they needed the 8G ram to be in a comfort zone, and they also calculated that the 4G of the PS4 would not be in that comfort zone. Regardless of what is happening now at MS (nothing unusual for sure, a few months before your gadget hits the stores, everything product-wise is in autorun-mode), without a doubt they were massively caught off-guard when the PS4 ram was upped to 8G, Sony being in the same comfort zone now as MS. That is the key issue.

Just thinking about the original xbox vs the ps2... i'm thinking about a similar difference in specs. If you think about it a long delay could bring it price-wise (doubt it will happen).

Still weaker than the 8GB GDDR5 RAM from the PS4

The announcement from Sony was at a good time
As we have seen some of their first party studios didn't even know about the console completely.Developers like Guerialla Games were shocked about the 8 GB GDDR5 RAM and didn't clearly know about it.
Then obviously no one outside of maybe Naughty Dog did know it especially not 3rd Party.

What happened after the presentation?
Every 3rd Party Developer was like "OMG this baby is insane - Its the console we all wished for.So easy to develop and omg <33333"
On the GDC they did the same with the Indie Developers.

Sony needed to show the console or rather tell the world how easy it is to work with it and how powerful it will be.
And the reactions about it went over the world - The developers love that console and did a complete 180 compared to the PS3 that everyone outside the 1st and 2nd Party hated.
People are mostly convinced this is the console of choice.Sony did a great job here.

Microsoft needs now the big "BOOOM" - Sony took the wind out of their sails.
They probably surprised Microsoft about how much effort they did put in and how much they were willing to change. If the own Sony studios are surprised then Microsoft will be too.No matter what they say.
Top Athletes say if they play against a village club : We have to play concentrated....No they don't have to but they can't be jerks.
Same here - Poker Face from Microsoft.

If they wait till the E3 it will be an intense show...They probably change the system specs too to be comparable.Maybe spend here and there some Millions to convince 3rd Party to stop loving Sony.Or they need more time to create some trailers for real games cause they are now aware they won't win with Fruit Ninja at their presentation.
Justin Bieber,Usher,50 Cent and stuff will dance the crap out of the Microsoft Presentation on the E3 and everyone will be like "yeeeeeeah"

kind of what i was wondering to.

not too long ago everyone was certain that sony was 2014 and MS would beat them to market.  now sony is confirmed 2013 and MS.. i dunno, but the longer they way the more i wonder if they are launching this year.

I'm still thinking on a 2013 release and selling more than competition on holidays.

Hmm...I'm not sure what this means...Whatever it is, MS had a plan, and something got in the way. Changes to the unveil? Changes to the console? Problems with the console? Issues with something else? Who knows. But I doubt MS is happy about it. But everyday that passes buzz for the PS4 grows, as do questions about why MS isn't fighting back, and if they'll even be ready come November.

Sony announcing 8GB instead of 4GB of GDDR 5 ram I highly doubt this had any effect on what MS was or is doing.  This is more marketing from Sony and probably future proofing the PS4 than anything immediate.  What 8GB does that 4 doesn't is allow the PS4 to do more things probably behind the scenes then just play your game. I highly doubt that the CPU/GPU on the PS4 can effectly use that much Ram where it will make a mark difference in how the system will perform.  The specs for the PS4 was rumored way before the reveal and nothing really changed so there isn't anything there that MS didn't already know.

People keep saying that MS is scrambling to out do Sony after the reveal but there wasn't anything in the reveal that MS probably didn't already know.  The ram is a nice feature for Sony but it's not something to make MS go "Oh Shit" instead they are probably think, "Have fun utilizing all that ram with your current CPU/GPU setup".
