You can't achieve the APM needed to play Starcraft 2 at a reasonable level on those kind of input devices ( be they voice, tablets, move or kinect).

The worse players have an APM of 50 ( I count myself in those), decent players are over 100, good players around 200 ( SC2 doesn't require as crazy an APM as SC1).

Now explain to me how you even get close to 60 with those inputs ?

 

To make this work you would have to slow tremendously the game and they it wouldn't be anywhere as fun..



PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

I would consider myself decent at sc2 and I only get about 60 apm. I can be the new version AI on elite 1 on 1(i play on the second fastest setting). I agree that you wouldnt be able to get as high of an apm with the wii u, but I still think it would be a very playable game. I am still not very good with the keyboard shortcuts. I cant remember them all since I like to play randmom races and they all have different hot keys. Really all the need is the ability to put units into control groups.

No , its not where the best are, but its where over 90% of people are (that or below) . I have roughly 200 APM  now depending on race (I play random) but as I said before I got all the way to platinum with only a mouse, where my APM was around30-50.That low level APM is very very resonable for a tablet interface, especailly one with buttons that could be used for hotkeys, and is all that is required for the largest amount of the userbase.

Let me be clear that though I am defending the idea, I in no way ever believe this will happen.

Or they could re-code it so that the characters are rendered with the GPU. This video was done using the GPU as the main processor for the units, and was done in 2008. If you don't want to watch the whole vid, just go to 3:40ish. Huge character amounts are possible, just needs to be coded the right way.

its not just char on screen, but the AI behind it. SC2 is extremly cpu limitewd and there isn't much that can be done about it.

People playing SC2 on the Wii U will be playing against other people on the Wii U, it's an even playing field, it would be great fun
