Forums - Nintendo - Ouya to launch with nintendo emulators

Emulators are legal, nothing Nintendo can do, end users are technically liable if they use copyrighted ROMs but no one cares.

Ouya will provide a better experience than Virtual Console at launch. Nintendo screwed this up big time. Why didn't they just make everything available day one?

I just got a bit interested in this Ouya (didn't care about it at all earlier). If it emulated all GCN games in 1080p, I'd get it in a heartbeat.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

This is great news for all the indie developers pledging Ouya support. Now nobody will buy their games because they'll be too busy illegally downloading SMB3 and FF6. Good job, Ouya team!

Now if someone brings Dolphin (GC/Wii emulator) to Android - that would be special.

I dont see why it wouldn't happen. Its looks like people are working on it though.

Yeah emulators are fine and all.

The BIOS can be copyrighted though. If you want it to be legal you need to get the BIOS from your own console.

Downloading roms "can" be illegal. I think this depends on the country.
AFAIK it's legal to download them in Germany as long as you own the game. Hell it's even legal to make copies of games/music/movies and gift them to your family and best friends.

"It has required months of work to even get it to this working of a state."

So I think it is more a proof of concept. ARMs a magnitudes slower than current x86-processors which are required for dolphin, leave aside GPU. I have a git-clone on my work-pc and never stumbled over something android-related so I thought no one would try this. When you watch the video it sure shows that rendering takes seconds per frame.

Overall, there is one thing to get a working emulator. Another thing is to get it to run at decent speed which I doubt will be available in less than 3 years.

you don't need root on android to pirate games.

These emulators are on android anyway, so it's no surprise for it to be on Ouya, an android
