No, but motion gaming was.

Its the reason why the Wii, PS Move and Kinect had such a massive drop off in sales. Once everybody got past the wow factor - "wow I can actually use my body to control the game!", nobody gave two shits about it. The casuals got bored and went to mobile games instead and the other gamers went back to playing with a normal controller.

I disagree. Wii saw a drop off because of the abysmal library and the capabilities of the platform were too limited. PS Move sold well at first like a lot of over hyped devices, but nobody anticipated success beyond that.

Kinect has had a great run, its still being pushed and millions of Kinect games were sold in 2012 (even excluding Kinect Adventure).

The are just sales from 2012...

37
Kinect Sports (X360)
Microsoft Game Studios, Sports
113 1,598,026
57
Kinect Star Wars (X360)
Microsoft Game Studios, Action
39 1,211,502
7 Just Dance 4 X360 2012 Misc Ubisoft 0.67 0.12 0.00 0.07 0.86
3 Dance Central 3 X360 2012 Misc Microsoft Game Studios 0.39 0.11 0.00 0.05 0.55

Here's a taste of how some other Kinect games performed in 2012...

Kinect Sports 2 sold over 500K.

Kinectimals sold alsmost 300K.

Dance Central 2 sold 500K.

Dance Central 1 sold 358K.

Just Dance 3 sold over 500K.

Zumba sold 671K.

Your Shape 2012 sold 573K.

Fable sold a measly 140K.

Clearly casuals haven't abandon the Kinect. Its still a good draw for casuals.

Motion devices like Wiimote and Move are pretty much dead. But there is still demand for devices like Kinect and they've begun integrating that technology in televisions. Also with the abysmal performance of the Wii U, maybe the Xbox 720 and Kinect 2 will get much of that motion gaming audience.

Lol if Wii remote is dead then so is Kinect. Those software sales are terrible. Just Dance 4 on Wii sold more than Kinect's two highest selling games this year combined. Im positive the Wii sold more software this year than Kinect easily.

Just Dance 4 was bundled with the hardware and Wii still has a massive casual userbase. But the Wii isn't selling for shit and they aren't migrating to the Wii U.

Wii doesn't need to sell it sold more in 5 years than 360 can in 10. Those Kinect games were bundled as well and yet still sold like crap. Just Dance 3 wasnt bundled and sold much better than anything has yet on Kinect lol. Your WiiU comment makes you sound very butthurt by the way.

We can all make things up bud. Anyways its true, usually haters try to downplay the Wiis success by calling it a fad. Its usually just people being butthurt.

Word to the wise bud, don't try and argue things which can so easily be proven. You are going to feel salty Thursday, anticipate a new avatar

Lol, you haven't proven a thing in this thread so far. The Wii is as much of a fad as the PS3 a failure.

Did the thursday part fly over your head? Ps3 isn't even up for debate about being a failure. It had equal third party support with 360. It had equal quality exclusives from Sony but had the most exclusives compared to Ninteno and MS. It sold more than all but 3 1st place consoles. You really have no points to presnt here. Only thing that could be classified as a failure would be profits but thats niether your nor my concern.

Wii being a fad is obviously up for debate looking at poll results and how many posts this thread has

Lol why are you comparing how much previous first place consoles sold to how much the PS3 sold? Didnt you tell another poster "comparing a system that launched when consoles reached their limit at 60 million compared to a console that launched when consoles reached their limit at 160 million?" Yet here you are doing it yourself. Maybe you're doing it to make the PS3 look better than it is. PS3 being a failure is obvious if anything. It had all of what you listed and still sits 20 million units behind the Wii and it even sold less software. PS3 is much more of a failure than Wii is a fad.

If you take what I said completely out of context to fit your agenda... yeah... I guess you can say I said that. Okay let's ignore the first place console comment. I can still say Ps3 still sold more than last gens 2nd and 3rd place console by over x3...

Yet still lost more money than they did. Lol, you just bragged about the PS3 being the most successful failure. Thats more than enough proof of it being a failure.

Reported for off topic trolling. This discusion has nothing to do with Ps3 being a failure. I tried to humor your comment but now you are just completely trolling.

You kept discussing it with me, so how was it off topic?

It was off topic to begin with but you took it to a whole new level with the trolling (Which you didn't need to ask how it was trolling so I assume you are aware you were trolling). I humored your point and showed how it was inaccurate by every measure of the word that matters to us the consumer. But some reason you want to ignore those and call it a failure anyway and then shift focus to financials and call it a failure again.

You also seem to have Ricky Bobby syndrome, "if you aren't first, you're last." Which is absurd... unless you want to call Samsung a failure in the mobile department because they are behind Apple... but I don't think ANYONE would claim that Galaxy sales are a failure

Wii doesn't need to sell... good because it can't with such little support. Instead Nintendo is making Wii U a smassive success.

Wii userbase is significantly larger than the Kinect userbase. So comparing them directly is totally fair.

Eitherway I anticipate is rise on motion devices like Kinect and decline on devices like Wiimote. Its inevitable.

You didnt point out anything inaccurate lol. I didnt ignore a thing, you did precisely what you told another poster not to do. You did it to defend the PS3 at all cost. But ill drop it since it will get no where, just like you claim I ignored everything you brought up, you do the same to the posters saying Wii isnt. I even got you to contradict yourself.

Aren't you doing the same thing? Since the Wii didn't outsell the PS2, it has to be a fad. You don't want to accept that it's something between those two extremes.

What the fuck are you talking about? Seriously? Now I am beyond befuddled by your comment. I have no way to answer you because I have no clue how you came to such a notion that I said anything of the sort. I don't see how calling something a fad equates to calling something a failure and I don't know how looking at trends of one gen to the next is equatable to what I said at all.

You completely took what I said out of context first of all. The person I said that to was not in anway comparing Ps1 to Wii to determine success or failure. I have no clue how you think you are even remotely close at making a point here

You said this in another thread. And I said you obviously didn't follow this gen... You replied but now I'm leaning towards the fact that you didn't again. Sure they had a lot of generic shooters. They also had a lot of gems for shooters too... they also had a lot of other stuff.

I know they didn't had only shooters. But, when I think of 360 and PS3, I automatically think of shooters like Killzone, Resistance, Halo, Gears, Call of Duty and, mostly, of their many, many clones. And, like I said in the other thread, I had a PC able play current-gen(in 2007) multiplatforms and bought a Wii in 2008. Also, in 2011 I bought a 360(it had a few JRPGs which I couldn't miss and, of course, Halo, which is awesome).

Why not think of Ratchet, Heavy Rain, Heavenly Sword, God of War, Little Big Planet, Batman, Grand Theft Auto, The Walking Dead, Journey, Braid.... and I could go on and on. Its not the Ps360's fault you assume they were infested with generic shooters when they both had awesome games of every genre

Which are few games when compared to the massive generic shooter library they have, while Wii's library is much more diverse in the sense that there isn't a genre dominance, as Wii received games that wouldn't even be possible on the 360/PS3 before Move/Kinect arrived. I hope you understand my point. I'm absolutely fine if you disagree with it, that's my opinion and not a fact, anyway.

You are right thats precisely what Ninty is doing because unlike some companies, Ninty can actually revive their plats in less than a year. Yes comparing Kinect and Wii is fair because Kinect wont exactly sell better with time lol. Its been dropping since release. Kinect in its prime cant compete with Wii why will it be able to compete later? Lol no devices wont be more Kinect like than Wii remote like, you realize Wii remotes are still being used on WiiU right? As a matter of fact, I will be more than willing to bet Wii Sports U sells more than any of Kinect 2.0 games lol.
