New Super Mario Land 3D 40 45.45%

Hey all. I'm going to be traveling abroad soon and I plan to take my 3DS with me. The games I have are pretty bad though. I only have Mario Kart 7, Resident Evil Mercenaries 3D, and Asphalt 3D. Obviously I will bring along Mario Kart but I wanted to pick up another game to hold my interest for a long time including the flight.

I've narrowed it down to Super Mario 3D Land, NSMB 2, and Legend of Zeld Ocarina of Time 3D. I've never played any of them including the original Ocarina of Time. So which one should I get? I'm not a huge fan of the NSMB series personally.

Ocarina of Time, if only just to catch up with the rest of the community

Fire Emblem.

SM3DL is a disappointment, and the same can be said for NSMB2.

OOT is good, if you haven't played it though.

Super Mario 3D Land is great, but short. If you go for all the stars it will be longer, but it's not a long term kind of game. OoT is long, especialy if you do all the optional stuff.  I haven't played NSMB2, but from what I understand it is kind of short too, unless you go on a big coin quest which doesn't appeal to everyone.

Don't forget that your 3DS can play DS games too, so there are tons of great long games that are new to you if you haven't played them before. For example, both of the DS Zelda games are fantastic.

I forgot about Fire Emblem, but still think Oot should be your choice.

Since you´re not a big fan of NSMB games, I´d say go with Mario 3D Land.

In my opinion, Ocarina of Time deserves to be played on the TV, not on a small screen (that´s why I wish they hadn´t made a remake for the 3DS, but for the Wii U, instead it gets Wind Waker -_-)...but, hey man...how come you never played it?...that was like, one of the best games ever when it was released back in 1998 (it still is one of the best, imo).

Well Ocarina of Time is Ocarina of Time in 3D! If you've never played any of them get that.

Super Mario 3Dland is my favorite mario game since Mario 64, (But I wasn't fond of Galaxy or NSMB), However imo it has an asinine design decision of making you beat it to unlock harder levels. Many of which are modified levels from the part of the game you actually beat which was too easy. It's still great fun and awesome, but imo it's clunkily presented.

Fire Emblem is the best unique game on 3DS imo. However if you don't like this kinda game. But puting that out their incase you just didn't think of it.

I'd say if you didn't play it yet, go with OoT 3D. I just recently finished it and I can see why people consider it the greatest of all time.

It certainly has aged well.

OoT for sure if you never played it. Mario 3D Land is better than NSMB 2 imo if you decide to go the Mario route.

Fire Emblem is amazing as well. Probably the best game on 3DS currently, but there's no shame in buying any of the 3 you mentioned instead. They're all good games.

I guess it all depends on what kind of experience you're after: if you want something quick and easy(ish) go with Mario. If you want something a bit more imersive and longer, go with Zelda.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
