I agree with your first sentence.

When there is no competition, any game will sell "well." 

Right, but the current userbase is just not high enough to make much of a difference. The highest non-bundled third party game so far sold 200k units.
You think it's going to do better than Black Ops 2 and Just Dance 4 ? Even they won't cross 200k until the next holidays.

RE5 did 1m in its first week on PS3
RE6 did almost 1.4m first week on PS3
even RE Operation Raccoon City sold over 500k first week on PS3

Anything can happen.  RE sold even on the GC and Wii, so why not WiiU?

Some positive news at last. The Wii U needs games like this to be a success to encourage other developers to release games on the Wii U. Dunno wether or not i should get it though.

Anything beyond 100 is pointless, really, and without examining it over a period of time it's... well, it's even more pointless. I can tell you from a month or so of following amazon.jp's top 100 that the PS3 version has been hovering inside the top 40 mark for quite some time. Haven't seen the 360 or Wii-U versions at all inside the entire top 100.

It may well be that the Wii-U has more amazon.com pre-orders, but with the numbers you're giving it'll be something like 100 for Wii-U v. 20 for the PS3, or equally small-time figures. I'd hazard a guess that with less on the immediate horizon, Wii-U owners may be more likely to pre-order a game in advance than PS360 owners. So it's certainly possible. But I wouldn't go making any claims or drawing any conclusions without doing more research first; and your OP seems to be desperately grasping at straws to make a success out of nothing.

Wii-U will have many software successes. This does not appear to be one of them at this point.

Nobody said it won't sell on WiiU. It just will be nowhere near the PS3 version and it certainly won't be the best or 2nd best selling third party game. That wasn't the case on 3DS so there is no reason to assume that it will change on WiiU (especially after MH3U release in the West, Lego City Undercover and the next batch of holiday games).

We know that Gamestop is the leader in pre-orders (I think 60% marketshare or even more). Amazon has maybe 10% if they're lucky.
It could very well be that in the last week PS3 and 360 owners really start to preorder the game and immediately obliterate the WiiU version within said week.

Also RE is one of the few huge console games left that do huge numbers in Japan and especially the PS3 version is going to dominate there. 33% and more of the FW sales come from Japan and the PS3 version usually owns 95% of them.

I was surprised that it took 6 pages before anyone mentioned the poor baby seals... VGC old community really is dead... And the bigger shock was the 6 pages most people actually think it means anything
