Forums - Gaming - An 84? An 81?... 45!? Whats Going on With All The Games Ratings? Are All Of Them Below Expectation?

Because people on forums were complaining about obvious review buy-outs. There is no way that certain games deserve 90+, yet they get them. It devalues the review score system and now theyre trying to get back that "faith".

The trick with reviews is to ignore the score. Totally blank the score. Read the review. Find a few reviewers who have a similar taste to yours and stick with them. Be it on IGN or a small blog. YouTube to gaming mags. Dont put your faith in a lop-sided scale.

reviewer scores are for fanboy fodder. you miss out on some pretty decent games if you only buy games a handful of people decide its fate. some of these reviewers probably dont even own the game but using others reviews as their own. and as for most user reviews especially when it comes to xbox there is a lot of hate just there pretty much to bring negative scores.

Game reviewer suck. Meat critic can't be used as any sort of measurement for quality games. I think it's best to find a publication that has a reviewer that like the same games you do. And actually read the review, forget about the score and take in what he's saying. If it sounds like you would like it or the flaws are to big to deal with, then make your decision about buying said game. That's the only way to handle reviews. At the beginning of the gen they where giving games perfect scores that didn't deserve them Looking at you GTA4 and at the end trashing games for no good reason.

People (reviewers) are expecting too much. At the end of Last gen, in 2005 there were plenty of ''franchise high's''. I'm not quite sure what critics are expecting but some of the games they have been rating low are much better received by fans. Its almost as if they are being purposefully harsh on sequels.

They need to lower the bar now, or they won't have any wiggle room for the next generation titles

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
