I wouldn't call the market tiny with 800m vs. 1.8B in Germany. Germany is a big market, so I'd call Spain a medium sized market. |
Agreed. So in what way is it supposed to be tiny ?

pc games are cheaper at release, they are still available when you don't get console games anymore (probably because of the royalties for console which means you can't reduce the price to only 5 or 10€ as publisher) and i'm not sure how they count when we buy our games digital on green man gaming or whatever. maybe they count that to the gaming market in gb or usa^^
not to forget something like facebook gaming and other per adervtisement paid games on pc. pirating doesn't bring money but with pirating you have a lot of pc players.

Also Germany isnt that big console market, its quite a bit smaller than France and half the size of the UK (both of which have around 25% smaller populations).

Ah ok I see what you mean. But even though there are a few markets bigger there are also alot smaller ones in Europe so its somewhere in the middle ?

Agreed. AGREED. Here in Spain, this is Sonyland. It's not only consoles, though. Everything with "Sony" on it sells very well. And yes, Ps3's (and Ps2's back in its time) sell like crazy. Vita's too, trust me. I'm probably one of the few that does not own anything Sony-made. (A pair of headsets when I was in High School, but hey...xD). I don't know if it is actually cheaper here than in other parts of Europe, though, but it is possible.
Spain used to be one of the biggest markets, not only in Europe, but worlwide, back in 2006/2007. Then the economy crumble, and Spain got hit hard, very hard (It was our's fault actually; we played gods - mainly because we were the lead economy country example in Europe - and then we fall deep down.). Now I don't know what is Spain, but certainly, not a good place to live.

That's far from correct.
From what we know the 800m € from Spain include Games, Console & Handheld hardware and Accessories. (maybe more)
The 1.85b € from Germany only includes Games and DLC/subscriptions/accounts. No hardware at all (accessories or consoles/handhelds)
Looking at 2012 Germany sales and prices on Amazon, console and handheld hardware added about 440m €
In the US accessories revenue make up 62% of consoles/handhelds revenue, so you can surely add another 220m € to the total number.
The total would be far closer to (if not higher than) 2.5b, so Spain is currently about 1/3 of Germany.

Makes sense, afterall Spains economy is also roughly 1/3 of Germany.
good stats,them damn steam sales
digi creeping up,i'm basically one of those guys now and the opportunity for the companies to sell their backlogs gets better all the time
Where are those HD owners that buy mature games? Only 15% of the Top 20 best selling games in Spain (AKA Sonyland) were 18+.

Historically, only 4% of games rated by PEGI have been 18+ rated. What if you include 16+ games? And where do you see the list?? |
Combining 16+ and 18+ it reaches the amazing percentage of 25%. It's in the article in the bottom link in the OP.

Real adults only play 18+ games. That's one of the reasons why I laugh at Americans. They are pretty much all wusses who don't dare to play games for ages 18 or older. |
And they use letters to make a classification based on something that is measured with numbers. It's crazy.
