Forums - Gaming - Why are people on these forums obsessed with exclusives but ignore multiplatform games?

But it's a VIDEO GAME sales forum, not a SONY or NINTENDO or MICROSOFT sales forum. So why don't we pay more attention to multiplatform titles, which are the vast majority of titles? Because we can't use those as ammunition in war of attrition we've been fighting for 18 years.

That's the problem. I think many celebrate exclusive games for their exclusivity. Not for their greatness.

the exclusive argument is entirely stupid tbh. the fanboy mantra is to say we have more. how many do they play? ours is better? wth? they are all different by different developers. different gameplay, style etc...

100% stupid. give me all of em (that i play demo first lol)

i just find it sad that bioshock infinite is getting almost no attention on vgc, every single thread about it was pretty much dead from beginning and at least for this game i think it would get much more as exclusive game.

I honestly think there's just enough attention being paid to multiplats in regards to sales.  I may not browse through all of the forums, but I have seen plenty of threads about multiplats that actually move hardware.

You can make thread about any game you want to talk... just the game itself is not the focus of this forum, it is became pretty obvious after ioi split the community in two fronts: VGChartz (SALES) and Gamewise (GAMES).

If you want a more specific community to talk about game I advise you to give a look in Gamewise.

Well, I've found a nice home here. And I really admire the intelligence and passion of the members of VGChartz.

I'm not saying we should do away with conversations about sales. I'm saying we should do away with fanboyism.

It has become a common saying on here how Xbox has no games. That is so far from the truth it's unbelievable. You could never buy an exclusive game for the Xbox and still have a fantastic library of titles. 

Not to mention exclusives generally aren't even the best selling titles on a console. I'm down with discussing exclusive titles but it seems like great games aren't getting discussed a lot of the time due to silly console war battles.  

looks at hot topics:  Exclusives - age of empires, lugi's mansion, kingdom hearts 1.5.  Multiplats - tomb raider, crash bandicoot, bioshock.

50/50 split.  more in favor of mutis at the momemt if you count that tomb raider has multiple threads.

 

...multi's get plenty of coverage here.  maybe less spirited debate as exclusives draw in the console warriors but i still think you are just seeing what you want to see here.  but hey, if you have a multi you want to talk about...make a thread.   we've more than enough "community accusation" threads for my taste.

Just kidding.  I haven't been to Gamewise since before it went live.  I'm sure it's fine.
