Apparently PETA got all pissed off over the whaling imagry in AC4:Black Flag. Well, Ubi responded....

 

Ubisoft's senior PR manager, Stone Chin, addressed the game's historical context directly in an email to Polygon.

"History is our playground in Assassin's Creed," Chin said. "Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag is a work of fiction that depicts the real events during the golden era of pirates. We do not condone illegal whaling, just as we don't condone a pirate lifestyle of poor hygiene, plundering, hijacking ships, and over-the legal-limit drunken debauchery."

PETA needs to stop bothering video game companies. I love nature/wildlife but PETA really needs to be kicked in the nuts or how about neutered?

Whaling is part of that era of time. I'm sure its part of the story in some fashion just like murder is.

I don't see why PETA is bothered about this, you are whaling pixels not real whales. Do your job and go back to bothering the Japanese fisherman. I think whaling practices are wrong, but what you do in Assassin's Creed IV is not real, it's only a game after all.
