Forums - Nintendo - Miyamoto: 'Strange' not to think about retirement

I want him to find his successor.

Like Gunpei was a teacher to Miyamoto, I want him to find that 1 person who can carry on the legacy that he left as head disciple or something.

He would be a hard person to replace. It will be a sad day when he is done. I hope he sticks around in a Godfather role till he's 70.

That might be code for "This guy is getting booted out soon."

Oh my God... I HATE piece-meal articles. Just let me read the whole thing at once, don't drip-feed readers with highlights and tease them over a period of days.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

It's basically already happened.  Takashi Tezuka is taking over as head of EAD, and he's already been in charge of several games like the NSMB series in which Miyamoto has had little to no involvement.  Miyamoto is working on smaller projects and deliberately staying out of the way so people can slowly get used to him not being there.

He is only 61. That's like 11 in Japanese years.

Sad part is... your not far off either.

It's funny Japan has a mandatory retirement policy, however almost nobody in Japan can afford to be retired.  So they get hired back with huge paycuts.

If the Japanese weren't so old on average their youth unemployment would be crazy high.

It's odd that they have such great health care but such poor old-age care.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Should be a Twilight Zone episode where Miyamoto disappears without warning. The pure carnage that would follow...

He is going to go when it fits him to do so.

How do you know? ...Are you a wizard?

If anyone in the industry deserves a gold-plated retirement package, it's him.

Have some time to kill? Read my shitty games blog. http://www.pixlbit.com/blogs/586/gigantor21
