I have one big issue. The fact that the gaming industry has figured out the formula for what sells, so originality is destroyed. The biggest culprit is the FPS. While I love them, we don't need 20 of them a year. An fps is now a dime a dozen, but games like LBP and Heavy rain just aren't out as much.

I's not just FPS, everyhting has to turn into an action shooter nowadays, mass effect, dead space, tomb raider, what's next...

The way games are designed sucks. The values created for us in the golden age has been lost. The most important parts of a video game has been swept under the rug for cosmetic and smoke & mirrors design.

The industry. Needs to be destroyed to fix it.

greed - going digital/ always online/ passes/no instruction manuals
crappy trophies achievements pain in the ass ruin experience for OCD individuals like myself
no real forward progress in gameplay aspects
no real forward progress in story telling and making games tailored to mature audiences

DRM - Seriously, I understand it, but there has to be a better way than punishing paying customers.
Online Passes - No other medium punishes the used merchandise market; this tells me that, in the devs eyes, buying used is as good as stealing.
the FPS genre - I love shooters, but they're all the same, no originality, and the campaigns are short. SNORE!
Short games - Not all games need to be 100 hour epics, but 4-6 hours is not okay. 8-12 hours minimum.
Microtransactions - nothing worse than having to pay extra just to make the game play right.
On-Disc DLC - If it's already there, then you paid for it. This is criminal.
PC Elitists - I love PC gaming, but seriously, we get it, the PC can do more. I want to boycott PC gaming just becuase I hate the fanboys.
Xbox Live - Why is this 'service' okay? It's no better than On-Disc DLC in terms of holding back content and charging you for it.
broken games - If I'm functioning as a first-wave beta tester, I better be getting paid for it.
Disappearing Genres - What happened to platformers? beat em Ups? good JRPG's? Survival Horror? Adventure?
Square Enix - Despicable company who seems to be actively giving their fans the middle finger every step of the way.
Capcom - See "Square-Enix"

How to fix:

DRM - Just don't do it. It's just making the pirates more determined to crack your code.
Online Passes - Just don't do it. Don't punish used games. That's disgusting.
The FPS genre - More games like Borderlands, Serious Sam, or Bulletstorm. fun, colorful, original stuff.
Short Games - Make games not-short. Write more story. Not every plot point needs to be an action set-piece.
Microtransations - Don't make them intrusive. They can be okay, if done right and can be ignored.
On Disc DLC - Again, just don't do it. give the people what you sell them, make DLC later.
PC Elitists - Just stop being arrogant, elitist, snobby douchebags. All systems have their place.
Xbox Live - More like PSN+. if you pay, feel like you're getting value, not being charged for something that should be free.
Broken Games - Just make better games. that work. out the gate. Nintendo does it well, so clearly it's doable.
Disappearing Genres - the big publishers have been lost to the endless quest for more money. Indies, it's up to you!
Square Enix - Release Final Fantasy VsXIII, Kingdom Hearts 3, FF Type-0 in the west, and everything else not Lighting or FFXIV related.
Capcom - Release another good megaman game. stop fucking up Resident Evil. stop with the nickel-and-diming of customers.

My Console Library:

hmmm, does 'your mom' fit in this thread? I'm not sure it does...she hardly fits anywhere :/

lol OT: my only problem with the games industry is with specific companies that are abandoning the core.

i do.... i dont know why, a lot of the people does so i guess ill just join the club.
same reason why i stand to a line just because there is a line

They can fix it by pricing retail games better. Lets say a Wii game gives you an hour of gameplay. Charge 9.99 for that game. Not 39.99. That would have helped a lot on the Wii.

In that case most good Wii games would cost about $500-$1000, no I don't want that thank you very much.
