Checkpoints don't make a game any easier.  They just make you not have to repeat past success.  Like I said, give me the same health I had.  If I got to that point with half my health, then fine have me start at the checkpoint with half my health.  That means no advantage and makes the game no easier.  Without that checkpoint it doesn't make the game any harder, it just makes it so people can act more hardcore and say they are playing a 100 hour game.  Also I beat 11 bosses I'm pretty sure cause I beat 2 in each world then went back to the Dragon God.

Yeah you accomplished the path once. That isn't demonstrating success at all. Do it again, prove you were successful and not lucky (and can do it with the same health/items/etc). That's what it's about. It's demoralizing to have to run through a difficult path again knowing the boss is at the end that you have to beat or you start all over again. Demon's souls is only 100 hours with multiplayer, I think I spent maybe 30-40 on singleplayer. (Long time ago!)

11 bosses isn't even close to the end. Wiki lists 22, I think 2 are just dragons that you can bypass, so you made it about halfway through.

So 1 challenging area/level in a game is enough to justify bad reviews? It probably ends up being you put the difficulty up too high. I'd love to know what difficulty these reviewers are playing in.

Lol, if they are crying about GoWA on normal then they better not try and plat GoW3 or CoD:WaW. Those 2 games should be called controller eats wall, and controller eats dirt.

That giant cerberus and centaur combo near the end of GoW3 had me ready to strangle my dog.  Zeus seemed like a cakewalk by comparison.  Although GoW2 was the most challenging plat because of the "kill 10 enemies in the air" challenge.  I got it on about my 100th try with 0 seconds showing on the clock.  Thought I had missed it because there was a zero and then cried tears of joy lol

Yeah, I have about 5 dead controllers buried in my back yard. Lol, had to buy plaster to fix the walls too. Sometimes I would fling the shit so hard that I could not even find the controller afterwards.... Complete rage playing GOW on hard.

lol

Nothing new. Have you played the blade tower part in God of War? I replayed it like last week and it pissed me off.

If this is a random difficult spike somewhere in the middle of the game and everything past that is much easier, then it's surely not a good thing and reviewers will punish it for that if it really takes multiple tries.

They should patch that quickly.

If it's one of the last encounters.... probably still not good, but not as dramatic.

From the sound of it it's probably some sort of puzzle that's put as a story.  Example enemies keep spawning but you can stop this by going to the end of the stage despite them telling you NOT to do that and to stand in fight in the cutscene.

I like that... the release here in Brazil is cheaper (compared to others titles)... so day one buy.

yeah 149 reais, instead of 199 like revengeance and any other game.  I think Sony is bringing GOW to Brazil in full force and that is why it is relatively cheap (still $75). By how I see people of Brazil comenting on GOW videos, it looks like GOW:Ascension will sell a lot in Brasil.  But still VGchartz wont track that LMAO! XD

sorry but that's just not how I look at it.  Demoralizing doesn't equal difficult.  I died way more times on Rayman Origins than Demon's Souls.  I died about 5 times on those twin bosses but that was the max.  All you had to do was go slow and used ranged stuff and it was easy, but damn I hate lack of checkpoints.  Hell start me out with half the health I had just don't respawn all the monsters again.  The game would've been waaaaaaaay more fun if you just got ONE checkpoint per level before the boss.  Have some sort of hardcore mode if people want to replay a section that they've demonstrated they can do (which means they can do it a second, third, and any number of times) and feel like they're somehow better I guess, but have the checkpoint mode for people who don't like to prove the same point 5 times.

GoW3 sold 30k in the first month.... I think it is the best selling games for PS3 here.

DarknessBear just replied! He passed the puzzle and said he feels like a dumbass and that it wasnt hard :P
