Haven't used it, but it seems very similar the video section of the PSN store. Can't really compare it to anything else (and why you'd want to replace it with your DVR which should cost you $0).

Cable TV is like $100 a month for me.  A subcription for HBO, Showtime, Starz alone cost $14 a month.  So you can do the math on all that and you will understand why.

And Ill look at the PS3 list tonight although I dont think PSN offers channels like ESPN, AMC, HBO, Starz etc.  although Im not sure but ill check tonight

I think HBO (which you still have to pay for, no matter what platform) is on everything nowadays. You're paying way too much for cable. I pay $50 for 300 channels (100+ in HD) and 2 DVRs. With all the sporting events I watch, I can't imagine not paying for cable.

You dont pay for HBO on Xbox Video.  You just pay for the episode you are watching.

That is a pretty good deal for Cable but how many of those channels do you actually watch?  For me cable isnt that great just because I dont watch much TV anyways.  If you watch a lot of TV though I understand paying for it but that is $600 a year.  If I switch to Xbox video (which I pay $1200 a year for cable) Ill end up saving aroun $900 most likely depending on what I watch throughout the year on Xbox Video.  Let's be completely honest about cable.  You pay a lot for a lot of things you don't watch for the few things you do watch.

Either way that is a pretty good deal for Cable.

Consider yourself lucky.  Let me know when your 1 year deal runs out and they jack up your rates.  Most markets in the USA are shit for cable and they charge outrageous rates due to having a monopoly on the market.  I just use Netflix and Hulu+ for my TV watching needs.  If they offered a la carte pricing then I would perhaps pay 20 dollars for 20 channels or something like that but that will never happen...

a la carte is coming.

I have netflix as well, but I refuse to pay for Hulu+. No streaming service should have built in commericials to every piece of content.

As for my cable, it'll go up to $63 after one year, but I still don't think that's very unreasonable.

Nah not too bad.  I used to get 20 mb download for my cable modem and pay about 42 or so dollars after tax.  They then started making me pay to lease the modem which knocked it up to about 50.  They then increased my bill to 56.66 after tax.  Then my 15 dollar 1 year discount dropped and it went up to 73 something after tax.  I called them up stating I was going to switch services and drop them because I refuse to pay 70+ dollars for a semi decent speed.  They said I am already getting bellow the normal price (must really screw some customers) but they would drop it down to about 62 dollars if I stayed with them.

They used to separate everything by networks before on PSN.  I haven't been able to find that in the new store.  But the content should still be there.  That said PSN is still behind in Canada, not sure about U.S.

I've heard the same thing about Xbox Live.  From what i understand Xbox Live offers more in America than the rest of the world and this may be the case for Xbox Video as well.  I'm not sure, maybe somebody can confirm this on here?

Yeah I'll definitely check the PSN store tonight and see what it offers as well.  I plan on replacing Cable so one of the two will work great for me until PS4/NeXbox comes out.

One quick question? Why do so many people like The Big Bang Theory? The few seconds I saw that show when at a friends house (flipping through channels) it seems like the characters are complete dorks and their dorky science humor seems terrible.  Last episode I saw for 5 seconds they came in after playing paintball and were like out we suck and they probably got beat by kids.  Can getting your ass kicked in paintball be funny?  Sure but they can't replicate the type of humor like on King of the Hill when Hank, Dale, Bill, and Boomhauers go paint balling.   Not trying to insult you for enjoying the show but I don't see what the big deal is. I suppose that type of humor doesn't entertain me one bit.

haha It's just a really funny show.  It takes a while to get use to the characters but Sheldon is really popular and wins awards a lot.  He is histerical.  I'd say it's the best sitcom since F.R.I.E.N.D.S although Im sure plenty of people would argue that The Office or Two and Half Men because they are both very popular as well.

I suppose it is a deal, but I'd rather not have to rely on the internet completely to watch anything, especially considering my wife would hog all my bandwidth. While I don't watch every channel, there's a ton devoted to a lot of smaller events that are nifty, but my wife does watch a bunch of stuff that would never.

It isn't funny. A show that require a very loud laughtrack is never funny.

Didn't Seinfeld have a pretty loud laughtrack?

I found very little Seinfeld funny. That said, I don't remember a laughtrack that became obnoxious or as frequent than Big Bang Theory. It comes out after How I Met Your Mother (which is being dragged on, but still infinitely more funny than BAZINGA), and I count the number of laugh tracks in the first 90 seconds. I counted 15 and  none of which were very appropriate.

I don't usually watch much TV. How do you pay for Xbox video?
