I tend to agree with amp on this one. I feel very strongly that we should pay more attention to older games -- especially because gaming is now in a decadent period -- but I worry that a new forum might be overkill.

I would suggest an official "retro" thread to scratch the itch.

In any event, thanks to richardhutnik for pushing this topic forward.

Do you want to use this, or is there anyother one in another forum?  I have one on here saying Atarians and Retroians assemble.  I also proppsed "Team Retro" to the whole team thing on here.

Well I've recently come to acquire an N64 (at last!), and I'd like to talk about it, so sure!

The norm would be to suggest to discuss it in the Nintendo forum on here, but, for me, it feels not quite right to go there and discuss  older stuff.  I would think that forum is usually dominated by WiiU and 3DS chat.

I don't think a new forum would be overkill. We could probably do without the politics one. It causes more trouble than it's worth.

The thing about retro gaming is that there is just as much to talk about as todays games. Re-releases and remakes are happening all the time. There's console fixing issues, old system mods, favorite games, lost gems, rediscovered classics, etc. There's just so much to talk about retro gaming that it really needs it's own forum. It would also help build the community up because those that want to talk about retro topics wouldn't have to go elsewhere to do so.

As one of the major contributors to the political forum, I would support it being done away with, or at least replaced with a more general one dedicated to also philosophy, religion, etc....

Congrats, man! I hope you enjoy it. What games did you get?

Just a handful of the classics (OoT, MM, Mario Party, Mario 64, Lylat Wars, Conker's Bad Fur Day). Pokemon Stadium and Goldeneye should be coming soon as well!

Since youre from the UK, i strongly recommend you OGRE BATTLE 64, if you like Rpgs of course.

Going for about 45 dollars used on Amazon right now.  I believe they have the SNES and perhaps the N64 version on the Wii VC.

@Sethnintendo
Oh, true, i forgot about VC since i play Wii only for single player games, never used my Wii online, always played MK Wii at a friends....

I would suggest renaming the Atarians and Retroians thread as "Official Retro Games Thread" or something like that. As long as the mods approve, of course.

It would be a great place to talk shop about classic games, systems, accessories, etc.

Ok, I will get on it/

Does anyone have the time, patience, bad ass workmanship to make a nice thread about the rare retro games up to about the GCN, PS2, Xbox era? I used to be big into collecting sports cards and that has kind of rubbed off onto video games. Got to the point where I have at least 20+ games on backlog because I buy so many games. I do it for collecting and to enjoy the game. I seem to be more going on the collecting side lately than gaming.

Retro game forum would totally kick ass.

If someone wants to, that would be cool.  For me, what I have for the PS2 is the PS2 as a retro console, so I have the Midway Arcade Treasures and more.  I pretty much got HD updates, like Katamari, of the stuff on the PS2.  I believe PS2/XBox/GC era is almost about to go retro, but likely would need to have Microsoft and Sony with their next gen consoles on the market, to be able to go with this.  Anyhow, I could go through a number of them, but found a number of the games have not aged as well as one would hope, unless they are done in old school style.
