1. sentence - I wasn't referring to the Wii as a piece of crap, I have one myself, but this particular iteration of the console, which many people have criticized for not outputting progressive video (laughable, really) and not being online capable.

2. sentence - I wasn't trying to insult Nintendo fans, I love Nintendo, but referring to the fact that many casual Wii owners don't even know that the original Wii can output progressive video through component nor have it set up that way. Nothing against those people, it's just the way it is.

Again, I'm sorry for my choice of words. Forgive me.

If this came out in America for 50-70 bucks I would consider getting it so I can play a few gems on the Wii.

Well people were confused over DS - 3DS transition. Nintendo knew this, thats why we got the "This isnt DS, this is 3DS" adverts.

question: do you guys still think that now PS3 will overtake Wii at any time?
Wii sells bad now but this could give a small boost and given the great hype in media PS4 could steal a lot of interest in PS3. I say the chances for PS3 overtaking the Wii have dramatically decreased in the last few weeks.

WHY would they put a single thing in the market that would detract from their flagging Wii U product. Why Why Why??? They're confusing their own customers and giving them yet more reasons not to buy their new product. It's lunacy!

I don't see Microsoft flogging 360's for very long once the nextgen comes out.  When 360 came out, a couple months and Xbox was OVER.  They want people buying new product, new games, new addons. Not discounted old stuff. Can't say that Nintendo or Sony do that and it's getting increasingly more confusing. A divided product line indeed does sell some old stuff but game development for those older products is DEAD. What games are you going to sell them when the shelves are full of new games for your new product?

On top of that,there's no way there is much profit in that box.

Other than owning something potentially rare in 50 years, why would somebody buy that? I think the slim, slimmer, slimmest market is getting out of hand and is due to start falling on its butt any day now.

Did they really strip out the internet connection or was that just a bad joke. Seems like one heck of a way to start this generation, nintendo. Good Job! lol...

I think they need to go even lower, you can buy a Wii right now at CEX for £40, so to really move more hardware, I'd say £40 for the WiiU if they want to sell gangbusters.

The Wii Remote Motion + and the Nunchuck that come with the console cost £40 by themselves so I don't think it's possible. Amazon is selling the Wii Mini for £80 so technically the console by itself is £40. XP

Well I said it would sell gangbusters, I didn't say it wouldn't be financial suicide :P
