"Sales will pick up after X"
"Sales will pick up after Y"
"Sales will pick up after Z"

The fact of the matter is if you are relying on a game you will be sorely dissapointed. Even GTA4 didn't do much for the Ps3. Even MGS4 didn't do much for the Ps3. GTA sells as much as Nintendos best franchises. MGS sells a little less but is still a massive seller.

If you are relying on a price drop you will be dissapointed. The Wii U isn't unaffordable. A price drop will help like the first one helped the Ps3. However, in the Ps3's case it still had a high price point and could look forward to price reduction again. Nintendo is already losing money on the Wii U. One thing Nintendo isn't as good as Sony with is reducing costs of their system. Why? because they already use cheap components that have little room for getting cheaper. As time drags on they will get cheaper but definatly not at the same pace as new technology. So they drop the price of the Wii U... I think they will drop the price but I think the price reduction will be more than the cost reduction. Then when will they be able to drop it again?

Okay, let's say that a price reduction and games do something unprecedented. MGS4 increased sales by 141%. GTA increased it by 80%. 299 price point increased it by 80% the 499 pice point increased it by 52%. We also know that no one thing really sustained sales. But lets pretend that everything works out for the Wii U. It gets a measly 50 dollar drop and somehow attracts people. Let's say Mario releases and it attracts people. Okay, let's say it gets a bigger increase than anything the Ps3 recieved AND it sustains sales.... well, the best we are looking at is still someting under 100k a week.

This is the definition of someone trying to act like they know what they're talking about. Your post screams bias so why even post in Ninty threads? What exactly are those games Ninty fans are saying wait for? They are saying wait for the games, not just wait for Mario Kart or Wii Fit. The difference between what Sony fans were saying wait for and Ninty fans are saying wait for is that the games Ninty fans are waiting for are the highest selling exclusives. GTA is big but it was also released on 360. If it was exclusive it would have helped alot more lol. Just ask the PS2. MGS is not even close to Nintys top tier. The WiiUs price being fair is your opinion, next time leave it out. The market is either telling Ninty to bring the games or cut the price. Ninty believes its the drought, we'll see exactly what the problem is when the games come. Its funny, Sony fans are always begging for price cuts but when someone else mentions it, they are the first ones claiming it wont work. Im pretty sure the 3DS price cut has helped a lot better than any of the PS3s price cuts. The difference between Ninty and Sony is, Ninty controls their own destiny, while Sony's destiny is controlled by 3rd parties. With overwhelming 3rd party support they dominate, without it they come in last.

I agree with most of what you said, but remeber that gta 4 is a multiplat, and multiplast rarely sells systems. Now, I will remeber that your only refering to others while saying that, but still.

Also, the power of mario is enormous, and he sells systems. It's that easy. We can elaborate on that in every way, but he still sells systems, and I believe that he will do the same now. Games sells harware, and few games sell them better than mario.

As we saw with the Wii, casuals dont care for graphics /performance, so why would they Care for Wii fit HD?

Not really, since Nintendo IPs themself still have a strong casual appeal. Microsoft could easily snatch away the rest with a Kinect based system though.

Nope. They just haven't gained them.

Casuals are fickle, free spirited creatures. No one can ever truly "own" them. The best one can hope for is to attract their attention by becoming the next big thing, but their loyalty is as unattainable as the wind.

They cared for wii fit plus. Why not again?

You cant lose a casual gamer because in hindsight they arent really there to begin with. They dont have brand loyalty or anything like that, they just flock to the latest craze at that particular time. Hardcore gamers are the ones to get on board, i mean the 3 million or so WiiUs sold are to the hardcore Nintendo crowd. I think Nintendo are keen on boosting this type of audience, because deep down they know casuals have been migrating to mobile phone gaming of late.
Having said that 3DS is a different beast altogether......

Buying Wii fit plus didn't involve buying new hardware to play.

Also, it may have been completely different customers who purchased it.

If a casual wants a casual experience to enjoy the Wii series of games, why would they spend 300 $ on a Wii u,  when they could purchasea cheap Wii?

Well if the xbox 720 doesn't snap them up then hopefully they'll come back :P

The thing about casuals, is that they want something new, sure, angry birds made some fans who still buy the sequels but most of them moved to something else, the same happened to the wii sports crowd, and the wii fit crowd, some will stay, most of them will move on to other things. Nintendo (And sony and microsoft) need to make new stuff that attract this different crowds if they want the huge numbers of the wii, and that can be done with software, not only hardware.
