Forums - Sony - Does Playstation 4 revolutionize GAMES?

i'm sure it can. it likely will. we'll know soon.

That is all up to the developers to create the revolutionary games. The hardware is power enough and easy to develop for. Get to work devs. We need to seem some great next-gen games. So far the only next-gen game I've seen that really pushes gameplay forward is Watch Dogs....but that is also coming to PS3/360.

Too early to tell, but from a gameplay aspect? Unlikely.

A social one? Maybe.

In what ways could we have new revolutionary gameplay?  That's an honest question too. What do you want to see in changes to gameplay?   The way I see it animations, physics, etc. have gotten better every generation, but games always play mostly the same and will continue to play the same.  Maybe I just can't visualize how gameplay could change that much.

Revolutionary games? There hasn't been a single revolutionary game in the past 10 years (except maybe Journey).

Wii Sports?

Portal?

Angry Birds?  (lol j/k)

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

With the ever increasing development costs, publishers keep taking less and less chances, so barring the indie community I seriously doubt it.

Consoles don't Revolutionize games. Games revolutionize games.

No, it just makes them look better. Well, this question is up to interpretation I guess. I see no real impact through the share button and the dumb little touch screen in the middle. They should have stuck with the Dualshock 3 controller. Nintendo's the only one on the innovative side this time around... again.

"People idealize revolutionizing gaming way too much. They're always trying to change the medium rather then creating a platform that can create an infinite number of experiences and stories possible that doesn't need to be constantly changed and updated."

I'm not looking for hardware that revolutionizes games. I'm looking for hardware that allows developers to make games that are closer to what they envision.

The console is just the stage, not the performance.

Wow, thats exactly what I wanted to say but in a much more poetic way.

Wii Sports? You mean the souped-up version of EyeToy? Portal had an interesting mechanic - it did not revolutionise gaming though.
