Gamecube launched first... which is why I said it was the most powerful at time of launch.

I think you mean N64. The N64 underperformed in sales but was critically acclaimed and no Sony wont be in the position Nintendo puts itself in anytime soon.

N64 was the PS3 in the anaology, PS4 would be the 'cube, if I am extrapolating my data correctly.  Which I am.

Except PS3 wasn't the next PS2, dropping from about 90% market share to 30% market share, which is kinda the point.

PS3 = PS1 = ~110m
PS4 = PS2 = ~160m

I just make easy to you understand.

Yes, make easy for me understand.

Truth of the matter is, Sony's brand name isn't what it once was (look at the Vita) and Microsoft can easily match the specs and third party support and has much more room to be flexible with the price.

There is no more one year head start.

Damage to the brand name is done, though, especially in America.  People here no longer say playstation when they mean video games, they say xbox.

the ps3 got off to a bad start. but its installed base is now close to 70 million so how did it fail lol

Not once in the OP do I say or even insinuate that it failed, just that in badly underperformed in relationship to the PS1 and PS2, which is true.
