i dont understand why 27 MB per second read speed is cause for excitement...but to each their own.

You don't understand how a improvement to what you currently have is cause for excitement?

if you want 1080p resolution and textures and better looking games this gen youre not getting much improvement at all at that speed.
physical media loading should be dead this gen...then id celebrate

No, because access-times are still PITA. I hope they put an option like MS so games can be put on hard-drive. I don't want to play any game on an optical disc anymore in my life.

Well yeah I do to. But the 6X applies to movies as well. Having the movie load up faster is a good thing. At least imo anyway

yea, its called buy digitally. You do know the only reason that feature was even added to the 360 was to save the lens from overheating the system, and subsequent RROD right? Made no sense to me that tyou install it to the HDD, just to have to always have the disc in to play. DO they still do that????

Vast open world RPGs with Deep Down dragons and NPCs with Cage's standard in character builds. REALITY!!!
The PS5 Exists.

The chance of MS allowing Sony to destroy them graphically this generation now that Microsoft has equalled and almost beat them is doubtful. I can see MS having several footprints of console and stepping up in order to copy or beat Sony. I just don't see MS going "here, take back all that market we ganked off you last generation by having a superior machine". |
Eh, 8 gigs of DDR3 woudln't be being "crushed" by any means.
If they did upgrade if anything i'd think they'd go with DDR4 assuming Microsoft launches in 2014.

*sigh* Why all this hate?
First:
Optical Disc Drives are set to break. The BR-Drive of old PS3 broke in many consoles. But this applies to all ODDs, not Sony-specific.
Optical Disc Drives are *loud*. Compared to disks and (of course flash) they are ridiculously loud.
Optical Disc Drives are *slow*. The access-times of any ODD are much higher than with HDDs, not to mention SSDs.
And now to you: What is that with RROD? Really boy, why? It was a new *feature* to dashboard resulting in better loading-times and less noise. The install has never been mandatory as Sony did with some games. And of course you had to keep the disc in because otherwise you could... really, don't you get it? Piracy?

Kasz brings up a good point...
What are MS's options as far as releasing? If they don't reveal their console till E3, I can't imagine a release this year. If they alter any of their hardware to compare to PS4, they might have to delay as well. This is assuming Sony doesn't have to delay due to their last minute change(which might not be, they just kept it a secret from devs as to fake out MS).
