Forums - Gaming - Does Sony Really Understand How Gamers Want to be "Social"?

It sounds like you just miss local multiplayer, and I do too. But unfortunately it's fast becoming a thing of the past. It's not Sony's fault; it's just what people want.

I'm glad some developers -- especially Nintendo -- are still committed to great couch co-op and multiplayer, but they're a dying breed.

They should have created something like Miiverse instead of Facebook, Twitter, and all the other shit social sites integration. That way gamers could provide feedback and ask questions in specific game channels.

You must have missed the part where the new online system had channels for games, where you could watch others play and also have chat rooms going on.

I just realised something, this could be a great alternative to livestream websites, you don't even need to set it up or do anything like record the gameplay ect ect and it's also alot more difficult for people to stream console games on livestream sites.

You know I just realized that this streaming option will be god like for holding tournaments! 0_0

I think what Sony should tap into is people's desires to create the web content they already consume. I mean, basic things like making montages for FPSs or video reviews/rants. Sony just needs to communicate the practical uses for the social features, rather than get too high minded and abstract.

so i guess Nintendo Land is not made for social, can tell me what is it for?

"Are gamers like me, who still enjoy playing video games in a real social environment (in person), that much of a minority?" (From OP.)

That should answer your question.

Almost every social gaming feature they showed I found interesting...for once. I LOVE the idea of the share button, so many times ive wished I had a PVR running when I do something amazing in a game. This would be brilliant for Lets Plays, fingers crossed it is compatible with PS1 games.
