i actually overheard 2 times at christmas while being il line people buying WiiU games and both asked do they play on Wii? both times the obviously where told no and didn't buy the game.

That is how people will learn.  The perception will fix itself eventualy and those customers probably wouldn't have bought the new console immeidiatly either way.  It really isn't as mucha  aproblem as people make it out to be.

That's probably true! I hope it does is itself :)

A sample size of one? What is the margin of error here? +/-99 percent?

My dad saw the Wii U commercial on TV and thought it was something that you would buy to use on your Wii. I promptly sighed, then tried to explain it, then gave up. Old people.

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

In the electronics store i work in.. Leading up to the holidays i sold more ps3's on any single day than i have sold wii u's sincr it launched here in europe.. Heck i even pushed more 360's over the counter than i have wii u the last month

Nintendo is saving their markering budget for the WiiU relaunch.

There is no point advertising now anyway. They need (big) games to strongly advertise in the first place.

This.  There is a horrible lack of new releases at the moment which should start to improve very shortly.  Advertising now would be a waste, but i think they do need to start a new push when the next wave of games arrives.

The push should start at the end of March, with the launch of Monster hunter 3 Ultimate, and Lego city. i would think both of them would well if properly marketed.

most people think Wii U is just an add-on of some sort. Most don't know its actually an entirely new console

The knowledge of one person doesn't tell us anything. I knew about the Xbox 360, but I didn't know anything about the Wii until maybe mid-2007. What does that tell you? Nothing. Though I didn't care for much else besides WoW at the time...

Anyway, I'd agree Nintendo needs to advertise, but the console barely has any games at this point. Might wanna wait for a few releases (MH3 at least)
