Forums - Sony - Rumor: Sony will be introducing a new paid online service with the PS4

Probably the sour note of the presentation and most people at the conference didn't catch on.

Still, it's easier to spin/justify than difficult used game policies and actual online requirements for playing off line and spying hardware, am I right?

Those where the days!

When people thought paying for online gaming would be the worst thing that could ever happen.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

someone should dig up that jaywood2010 thread, where all those ps fans got banned for ripping on live. Oh what a hilarious day that was

VGChartz will be hilarious if true.

Fingers crossed that online gaming stays free

Well, not so hilarious because PlayStation fans in general dont seem to give a shit.

On another note - I think its funny how people are trying to make this one negative stand out. One real negative.

The positives for outweight this one negative. The console itself is cheap. Its very powerful. It has no anti-consumer DRM policies. It plays used games. It doesnt look too shabby. Its small. Its not forcing a motion controller.

People in general dont seem to care, because the PS4 isnt shitting on consumers from the get go.

what do you think?

See above.

A sub fee to play online doesnt really bother me, because Ive already been doing it since 06-07.

Ill likely only have one sub next generation, too.

I'm not happy about needing Plus but I'll bare with it. I started a Plus subscription last month and it's decent I haven't found a game they offer that I'm into yet though. So if i have to pay on PS4 at least it's a better service than Live and cheaper for now.

Go Team Venture! I still don't get the Wii, PS Move,  and Kinect.

LOL it's funny how MS fans are trying to piss off PS fans, but no one seems to be annoyed.

Even though this article doesn't say this. If online multiplayer become a pay service I would demand a refund on my PS+, sell my Playstation products, sell my account to someone, and buy a Wii U or a gaming PC.

+1 WiiU sale confirmed.

Yeah, I should look into that refund. Right now I can't even afford a PS4. I can't believe they are pulling this shit. They aren't doing it to PS3 or Vita.

I don't get it, PS+ is on the rise, the route its going every PS4 owner will probably have PS+ anyway. It doesn't need to be pay walled.

Damn it all, I have Plus till 2015. There needs to be a strong campaign to convince them to change back and rely on attractive subscribers and use marketing. PS4 is so awesome, damn double edge sword.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

This would happen in the end. I want the days back when rumours were wrong, things would be so much better

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

I think it's BS they are making PS Plus mandatory, regardless of it's great value. It will definitely make it harder for those on a tight budget to game online. And while doesn't affect me as a PS Plus subscriber, I will definitely not do what a few on the other side have done. That is bash those as being poor or cheap for not being able to afford to or want to pay for online.

It's also hilarious how MS fans want to make fun of those who will justify this, while they are running around trying to defend one of the largest offenses to gaming rights in the industry's history. Fortunately, Sony and Nintendo aren't so anti-gamer/consumer.
