It`s going to be called Pokémon Z with it`s own set of Pokémon. You will also be able to fight with 3DS' X and Y online and locally and gather more Pokémons.

Could work...

Are you sure that would be a good idea? X and Y owners can just catch the pokemons, while the "z" owners need to buy them? XD

Everything that will offered through NFC will have to be bought, so why not? Doesn`t Skylanders work that way?
Imagine that you only have a Wii U version and would like to own more but don`t own a 3DS: get those Pokemon through cards, for example.

I`m not saying Pokemon will use it, because to add Pokemon to the game you would need a bunch of cards or figurines and that would be really expensive.
My guess is that Nintendo will use some new IP and use NFC to breed new life to it: buy a figurine or card and get a special item or challenge. Kinda like DLC but with toys!

Yeah, all things nfc needs to be bought, but my point is that it is VERY simple to get kick ass pokemons in the main series. If you have to buy the pokemons, and they aren't even as good as the ones that you catch for free in x and y, there is no point of playing that way. I think that "Z" should be a standalone game, that can have some kind of interactivity between each other. Some connectivity with X and Y would be cool too, and could help sales (like pokemons only obtainable from "Z").

In my mind Z would be a standalone game that could interact with the 3DS' games.
The buyable Pokemon would be a way to lure people into... wait for it... a Pokemon MMO! SHOCK! :D

Imagine you having a 3DS and Wii U and taking you X or Y Pokemon games online for some quests?

parents would hate that.

Can you imagine having 700+ pokemon figurines in your house so you can play a game?

Much better to have a Yugioh type game where its cards.

lol

yeah a cards would be better.... and cheaper...

imagine a $10-20 figurine :O

Would this sell the system though? These kind of things sell really well by selling cheaply but consistently, for parents who get regular presents for their children. But to buy a whole console for it? Nintendo should sell more Wii U's first, then this kind of game would have a huge impact.

Kids can get quite a lot if they just want to. Also, a mario kart or a 3d mario are supposed to come out this holyday to, so those will get a lot of system owners out.

Yeah, I guess. A big advantage of this game is it will sell consistently over a long time, so they don't have to worry about everything resting on the game launch. It's something the parents would pick up when they get round to buying the console, rather than the usual short burst. Although a good jumping off point would be good to have it catch on like the original cards.

Actually, we've all lamented over why Nintendo never made a Pokemon MMO for Wii. But a Pokemon MMO where instead of a monthly fee, you unlocked additional content with new toy pokemon purchases (ala Skylanders) would be genius and ought to be a huge seller and a huge system seller for the WiiU.

It would be a big deal but only to children. Many of them are likely to buy a Wii U anyway... Its all the otehr demographics nintendo need to be concerned with

How many children have $350 in disposable income? ;)

Seriously, though, it would be a huge hit with all age groups. Pokemon is an insanely popular brand. You only have to look at the fans on this site to see that adults love Pokemon too.

I have never played a pokemon game, but I am sure my daughter would love a pokemon nfc money pit. I bought the wii U for games like ZombiU and Monster Hunter, and because it will play games that my daughter also likes.

More people have to buy the dang WiiU 1st for that to work.

If they for once make a competend commercial it should be possible. And if a pokemon nfc game launches this holiday, it will probably get company with a mario game that will sell more consoles, and the game will ride on the popularity of x and y. Maybe some kind of connectivity between the two games, like some pokemons you can only get in the nfc game, and then you can transfer it over to x and y.

I dont know why people allways talk about Nintendo making competent commercials. Advertising agency "Leo Burnett" makes all commercials for Nintendo since Wii. Why they made great commercials for the Wii and why their commercials are lacking for the WiiU, nobody knows. Perhaps they where less inspired?

Anyhow, a Pokemon Z for WiiU using Skylanders type NFC stuff released in october at the same time as Pokemon X and Y for 3DS would be nice.
