Forums - Nintendo - OMG! Need for Speed Most Wanted - Wii U vs Xbox 360 screens!!

It looks good from what I've seen so far. Haven't played a Need for Speed game in ages, I might actually pick this one up!

It was always obvious the Wii U was more powerful than PS3 and 360. You simply couldn't tell the difference looking at quick launch ports that were made in a few months without using any of the Wii U's strengths. It's partly Nintendo's own fault as their launch games didn't look too hot either. The first exclusive to really show the system is more powerful will be Pikmin 3 in Q2. The game definitely looks beyond what PS3 / 360 are capable of (it doesn't look light years beyond on videos but if you know how much stuff there'll be going on in the actual game it becomes way more impressive).

I agree, however, Nintendo manage the whole thing very badlly, they should AT LEAST HAVE ONE, one single game, that showed how much better the system is, at least one.

Most of the times the graphical "housepowers" of new systems are tech demos. Full games that really show a great advancements in graphics very rarely come at launch (or launch window).

Too bad Nintendo fans hate EA games, they probably would have enjoyed this one.

Exactly, this is a great game, they make a great port, yet all EA is getting from nintendo fans is hate.

Don't mix things up. They get the hate for their shoddy ports of FIFA and Madden. I haven't seen any WiiU fan hating on Criterion so far.

Indeed. EA has some real talent under their helm, but the top decisionmakers are exclusively asshats.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Wow, that's actually a dramatic difference and more than I would expect from a port. I guess they used the PC version. It truly looks like a "generational leap" as people like to say. In the second set, the WiiU version almost looks like a photograph.

Let's say that at 720P by Nintendo becomes the norm, and it goes up against 1080P by Microsoft and Nintendo, say the same framerate.  Will see if the WiiU holds its own saleswise.

The push now is the second screen.  That is what is supposed to differentiate for Nintendo, so that is what they pushed.  The graphics for Nintendo need to be "hold their own" with next generation.

This is how you spend money the wrong way. The game will sell way better on PS3, the 360 and PC.

Besides don't Wii U owners hate EA's guts? It's like we have a new thread from Nintendo fans about how EA betrayed them once every hour.

Was already released on those platforms in November. Did about 2.6m combined according to VGC.

WiiU port is extra cash, might sell an additional 200-300k in the end.

Fair enough, I guess you are right. I really have no arguments left, however, right now, the system doen´t atract me, and I don´t really care about brand, I have systems of the big three, so, maybe in the future.

However, if the PS4 blow my mind like the Xbox360 did back in the day (I bought in 2008 after I dreamed about playing Dead Rising for weeks), then I gotta have it RIGHT NOW. That is the diference, however, NINTENDO will be just fine without me.

Also, I know PS360 had both a rough start in 2005-2006, so, it is just normal.

I'm not quite sure what you are saying. Are you asking a question or making a statement? If you are saying that, under a hypothetical scenario WiiU games are at 720p and 720 games are at 1080p the WiiU would lose sales, I would say that probably isn't the case.  Sales usually come down to cool games and cheaper systems.  Most people don't know the difference between 1080p and 720p, and would believe a game is in 1080p if people told them.  A TV needs to be upwards of 50" to tell the diffence with the human eye at distances greater than the minimum recommended viewing distance anyway. Differences won't likely be in resolution, however, but in the amount of textures and draw distances and so on made possible by greater RAM and graphics chips.  What makes the WiiU look so much better than 360 is the lack of blur, the actual depth and detail in the surfaces, the greater water effects and the more impressive lighting. It has nothing to do with resolution.  Those differences are possible because of GPU and RAM.  The 720 will likely have a similar jump from WiiU as WiiU is from 360, making surfaces even more detailed if programers put in the time.

Precisely.

EA rightfully gets hate for the way they have generally handled ports to Nintendo systems in the past few years.  FIFA 13 case-in-point, which was late, actually FIFA 12, missing a bunch of features and full price. Mass Effect, another example, was sent to retail already deceased.  This has been EA's MO for the past few years.

Now this game is also late, but at least it is fully featured (in fact with some addtional features) and the developers appear to have gone to some lengths to ensure that they make the most of the Wii U.  Consequently, the buzz around this particular game is very positive, seemingly across the board.

Props to Criterion for a job well done but I'll reserve judgment on EA as a whole for some time still.
