Forums - Gaming - Have you ever seen another console get as much media attention as the PS4 is getting before its annoucement?

What actual gaming websites do you mean? The teaser has been viewed almost 7m times.

This is probably the biggest pre reveal hype for any product outside iPhone/iPad.

The Wii had more media coverage.

But of course, that was after it was actually unveiled. People's obsession with PS4 rumors is really something else.

Those sites aren't Sony-centric, they are gaming-centric. Want some more examples?

Gametrailers. They've released 10 videos for the PS meeting already and the meeting hasn't even occured. 5 of their Top 10 videos of the week relate to the PS Meeting.

 

IGN: All their PS4 articles have way more comments than their reviews.

Exactly, what does he mean gaming centric? All the major gaming sites on the web are talking PS4 now, he's probably visiting NintendoLife or something.

Well, for starters, Vita, Wii U, 3DS, PS3, Wii, and Kinect all were talked about a lot more than PS4 has been.

Microsoft will crush this with their 720 unveil IMO.

Last time they had MTV, this time they'll go even bigger.

Game console unveils aren't what they used to be though to be honest. The Samsung Galaxy SIV unveil will get far, faaaaaar more press, so will the next iPhone.

you guys are comparing "PS4 announcment spectulation" to announced pre-release hype (wii and 360), is it that hard to understand. But on the topic I dont think its not fair to compare the hype of this generation to any other generation, as internet was not that wide spread in 2005/04 facebook and youtube were no were in the picture, bandwith was slow. This speculative announcment could only be compared to wii u, and buzz is far greater than Wii's successor had. Everybody was admanent that 720 would be the first one revealed, but out of no where sony jumped in and took everyone off gaurd with their "see the Future of playstation" video and shot the hype meter out of stratosphere. so yeah the speculation hype/buzz is very strong for game console which no announcment at all.
