I agree. I find it funny and ridiculous so many are now like "Who cares? It didn't look that good anyway....." which is text book psychological reaction to something you desire and cannot have. Nomura has an excelent track record, with every game he has ever had a key role in have been garnered as some of SE's most successful (FFVII where he was character designer as well as part writer, FFVIII CD, FFX CD and Conceptual writer, Kingdom Hearts 1&2 as Director, TWEWY as Director, etc.). He is honestly the only reason I still pay any mind to SE as he is Grade A talent.

The second Versus is fully revealed and slated for release, watch all the nay sayers comback to their senses....

1. Action RPG has become far more popular than traditional, as the WRPGs have proven. Many always wanted the FF series to graduate to a more KH style of combat. Maybe not identical to KH but faster pace is what we want most. The combat in the state we saw it felt like FFXII meets Star Ocean/Tales of type scenarios
2. Crisis Core was a phenomenal JRPG, barring the randomizing of certain moves via the Slot system. Versus will assuredly not be as automated, which is the biggest problem with the last few main FF releases for most (FFXII and FFXIII).

If that's how you want to interpret things, fine.  But "all signs points to" would mean something akin to "a large amount of clear evidence supports the idea that" or something along those lines.  That's not what we have here.

I know exactly what you mean, it would feel like a slap in the face. Yet I can understand the inverse of that too. Sales of games this gen have started to slow. Odds are, whatever system it debuts for, it won't be hitting till Next year at soonest. The first FF title of each gen always sells the best for the given console than it's later entries. FFXIII-2 sold less than half of FFXIII which was already under target. Lightning Returns will assuredly do worse. It might be hard for Versus to escape it's association with the FFXIII name unless it moves to PS4. There is something about New console hype that begs more ppl to buy games, as the pickings are a lot slimmer at that point.

Also Nomura had a lot of really lofty goals. Over World Map ala FFIV-IX, seemless battle transitions, night/day cycles, realistic cloud movements, large story enough to fill BluRay, stupendous graphics, etc. Not that I don't think this could have been done on PS3, just that after such a lengthy dev cycle, they will want to make sure all their hard work and effort gets noticed. New console debut would be perfect for that.

PS4 release will overall mean the game is assuredly the best it can be. The big fear I had for FFXIII is that the Multiplatform decision definitely crippled it's performance technically. It totally stifled that game from being half of what Versus was said to be. I would be far more ok with Versus being Multiplatform(ala PS3/PS4, or even sharing it with 720/WiiU)  if it is an upward progression and not a downward one like FFXIII.

I am not saying it is assuredly going to be an Orbis release, just that there is definite reasone to believe otherwise. Hey, we might get that Twilight Princess split release. Either or, its fine by me. Just inject this game into my veins already.

I'm not disagreeing it's just that people as part of their usual moaning always talk about how japanese RPGs should return to the good old days.

Versus is new and I think it's part of the reason they teased it so early, to get people's reactions on something so radically different.

Here's what I believe: had the game we know as Versus been release in 2010 as XIII, an action-rpg with a guy lots called emo back in 2006 (yeah i remember) today the moaning would be exactly the same but it would be for the other XIII with the pink haired chick.

The grass is always greener on the other side for self proclaimed Final Fantasy fans and there are as many sides as there are sequels.

FF XIII exceeded sales expectations. And XIII-2 sold pretty well for a spin off.

Wasn't that only possible because the GC was similar in architecture to Wii? Hard to believe that they could develop it for both when PS4 allegedly doesn't have a cell processor.

And do you think the timing of the fragrance is a coincidence?(mind you like I said in the OP, it is also the fact SE stated they had some FF reveals prepped for early 2013, and Nomura's eagerness to give info yet said he was being stifled by "something" which could very well be new console reveal)
