The fact that the N64 was built with a memory expansion port shows that Nintendo had plans to force customers to buy an extra accessory from the very start. One does not expect to have to buy an "upgrade" to their current console to play games later in the development cycle. Luckily very few games actually required the thing.

Also the memory addition from the expansion pack was actually slower than the main system memory. It did not simply "double" the "awesomeness". It allowed for some minor upgrades.

Don't get me wrong I loved the N64, but this thread is ridiculous.

No it's not. Nintendo's awesome and so is the memory expansion. And people love to "upgrade" their Xbox with "kinect" or "natal" or whatever the fuck people call it now. Me? I call it a piece of shit. Fuck Kinect.

Summary: Nintendo is the best.

I find it odd that people actually want this back. Ain't nobody got time fo dat!

i agree with the memory expansion thing and i dont think games would suffer if you can play them without the expansion..

Turok 2 I always mention that game in almost every FPS discussion and no one has played it ..its probably the best FPS of all time..and each level is so fu**ing BIG you need literaly days to finish just one level on the first try..story is great, graphics are awesome the music is perfect and even the AI is good when compared to todays standards.

the game deserves some kind of award or atleast a remake its totally forgotten..

Yer Turok 1 and 2 are some of the best FPS made.

Shame it all went downhill from there.

there is a speedrun on youtube and the guy finishes the second level just under 3 hours and he knows every corner of the level ..yes weapons are awesome cerebral bore is everyones favorite best weapon of all time for sure :D

and the music beatiful http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHoxj-MVmPo

If gamers got time for Wiimotes, Kinect, etc, and now 3inch useless trackpads/touchscreens, surely they have time for expansion that enhances their games' graphics, framerate, gameplay, etc.

I love My Wii U, and the potential it brings to gaming.

Around the Network

Approximate number of games released for the N64: ~380
Approximate number of games that utilized the XPAK: ~50
That is less than 15%

IE: pathetic.

A warrior keeps death on the mind from the moment of their first breath to the moment of their last.

It's smarter to just start a new generation. Mid gen expansions such as Motion Plus, Kinect, Move, and this rarely get any traction. Out of those four only one has achieved market penetration.

But those are controllers, there is a difference.

Obvious Nintendo bias is obvious.

I "expanded" my Ps3 harddrive to 1 tb last year. When I had my 360 I "expanded" it's harddrive from 20gb to 120gb.

Not sure what you're not understanding.

That's hard disk space. He's speaking about RAM memory, that's a little bit different... It would be awesome if the PS3 or Xbox was designed to be upgradeable like a PC. Being able to Swap out a video card or upgrade the RAM in a Xbox 360 would definitely extend it's life.
