"Ni No Kuni placed just outside the top ten at number eleven"

Yay!

And what else released in January, again? I expect around 100k tops for January, so around 80k overtracked here at least, sadly.

Would love to be wrong, but...

i think it did better as 100k.

if we take vgc numbers, those games are above ni no kuni and above 190k sales:

halo, cod, nba, asscreed, far cry, just dance 4, dmc.

we have it at eights place in front of skylanders, fifa and madden.

skylanders is probably a lot undertracked. madden as well, it's fifth in the npd ranking in front of dmc, asscreed and halo, we have it behind those games.

so, if fifa is also undertracked, ni no kuni could  have 150k+ sales and at least in europe, fifa is undertracked. if fifa as tenth in the npd ranking sold really so much worse as the ninth place of npd numbers, ni no kuni could be really as you think.

Is WiiU setting some kind of record?

Like seriously? Is it? Is this an all time low for a console's or handheld's third month? (excluding consoles which were never relevant, of course)

As a Nintendo fan, I view these Wii U sales as good news, for a few reasons:

1. Price drop almost has to be coming soon now, at which point I might actually buy a Wii U.

2. Iwata has to be gone soon after this. Sorry Iwata, I enjoyed your quirky banana staring ways, but you just don't have what it takes to be running Nintendo's business side anymore. time for him to go the way of Ken Kutaragi.

3. May force Nintendo to go back to the Wii route and start appealing to a mass market audience again. After all, it was only after Nintendo hit dire straights with the Gamecube that they were essentially forced to take this route. Hopefully this will snap them out of their stubbornness and wake them up once again. Sometimes you need to hit rock bottom before you can start to take the climb to the top.

The whole thing with the Wiimote was it was successful because no one else was really doing motion gaming. No everyone has it. It looks the PS4 controller is built for some kind of camera/motion interface and the 720 will come bundled with Kinect 2. These types of experiences are no longer unique.

The whole "blue ocean" thing doesn't work in a red ocean.

I agree though I think Iwata is done, especially if Nintendo is forced to eat heavy losses to discount the Wii U.

Wii U is the first HD console to sell under 70k in a NPD month.

PS3 at 599 didnt even achieve that...wow

Wii U is in the never relevant category.

I can say the consumers are waiting the next-gen begin? I can't wait November 2013.

Nintendo still cater to the mass market. They launched with a 2D Mario and a mini game collection full of Nintendo stuff. There isnt much more mass market than that, is there?

The console needs a pricecut and a healthy set of new releases.
