Forums - Nintendo - Core gamers do not care about 3rd parties on Nintendo, in fact, they only care about the next Zelda game

Zelda is definitely the franchise that most makes me want a Nintendo console and I would hazard to guess that it's the same for most people who typically game on a Sony or Microsoft console.

That being said, however, Skyward Sword really turned me off. I wasn't expecting Harry Potter with motion controls. I have little doubt that the Wii U Zelda installment will be much more interesting (I hope).

The weird thing is, over the years the reception of Wind Waker has gotten better and better.

Hypocrites.

Same with Twilight Princess. Guess who is getting the shoot down right now? Skyward Sword. I see a trend...

I'm done buying Nintendo first party games. Im freaking tired of Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, freakin' animal crossing. All of that shit!! I want some third party support damnit. I know you all want third party more than first party too, but you're in too much denial about it. STOP BUYING FIRST PARTY GAMES AND SUPPORT THIRD PARTY. They look better on WiiU! Damn the reviews!

Other people are not though. You have to realize that not everyone has played every Mario or Zelda game. Also how the hell are you tired of Pikmin already?

Stop buying first party games on the Wii U? That doesn't make any sense... what else do we have to buy?!

AGREE? Is this obvious?

Partly agree. So long as Zelda is good, it will attract core gamers who owned a prior Nintendo console before. It doesn't have to look like a hardcore Zelda like OoT and TP were, Skyward Sword plays excellent, so as long as the game is good, it will attract fans.

However Zelda will attract a lot of casual gamers becase Zelda is a name, and a good game, and therefore a good reason to get a Wii U.

Core gamers WILL care about 3rd party exclusives, I mean remember Resident Evil 4 on Gamecube? That game probably convinced a bunch of core gamers that Gamecube isn't a kiddy system anymore, and probably really helped late life sales. Wii never got a 3rd party exclusive like that.

I think XenoBlade Chronicles 2 will bring in a lot of "core" gamers, especially after XenoBlade 1 did so well, and is not super hard to find.

P.S. 3DS relies on 3rd party support. SMT4, MH4, DQVII, and various other 3DS exclusives are probably bigger console pushers then any Nintendo RPG, except for maybe Fire Emblem. Mario and Mario Kart are obviously bigger system sellers, but 3DS does rely quite a bit on 3rd Party support. If WiiU could get that same support from Japanese developers, I think Wii U could sell really well, even outside of Japan.

e.g. If Final Fantasy XV turnout out to be a WiiU exclusive, it would boost sales like crazy, plus with FFXV exclusive, a lot of other Japanese devs would probably follow suit and not ignore the WiiU like before.

Thats okay if you are not, i am. But you do want third party support right?  Nintendo fans shunned 3rd party developers when they made 2D Mario the only million seller.  It's so stupid we're in denial*

Batman

Darksiders

Call of Duty

Assassins Creed

Zombiu

Scribblenaughts

Ninja gaiden

Tekken

Sonic

All of which have better graphics on WiiU, contrary to the reviewers that are killing the industry, and better controls.  Yeah you have played some of these before.. But not all of them!  So it costs more?  You're buying an upgraded version and the priceless confidence of world class studios.  Why would anyone rather buy a 2D Mario or another Zelda?  That's insane and self destructive.

Obvious?

Zelda, Xenoblade 2 and Bayonetta 2 i'd say. Monster Hunter 3 ultimate aswell.

Having more third party games come to the WiiU is not going to get Core gamers from PC, Sony, and the Microsoft crowd to want a Wii U. Nothing 3rd parties put out on the WiiU will matter to them or be any different than what they already have.

Nintendo needs to realize the only thing that will draw these gamers out is a new Zelda game. Make it cartoony or make it look childish and it will put them off to giving it a go. If they are smart they will make the upcoming Zelda game just like the one at E3 2011, or risk losing out on bringing over core gamers from the other systems.

Once you have them, then they will pick up some other first party games, and maybe even try out some third party games.

AGREE? Is this obvious?

Nintendo aren't good at core games. Without 3rd party support they'll never get core gamers back.

Completely agree. Especially on the zelda part. If they make a zelda game looking like that, I know a lot of my friends will buy a wii u. Graphics sadly do matter when people buy games :(

I guess I see the point being made. Draw them in with Nintendo core games. Probably work if Nintendo stopped focusing on Mario golf.
