Its interesting how atheists only really exist in Christian dominated areas of the world. Most of them are rebellious teens.

Sigh.....

two great legacies ancient greece and rome and enlightenment, nothing comparable enywhere in the world

Greece and Rome......Europe. Another Christian held part of the world.

Atheism was essentially founded in pre-christian greece, that was the time of pagan dominance

it was not atheism in contemporary sense

certainly not the atheism we know today, but all religious thought has changed over time...

personally I like to think of the "atheist" philosophers more as "agnostic" in the modern sense, definetely had more of an open minded tone to their ideas

exactly

In all of my time on VGC, I have never seen an atheist attacking religious people. True story.

go to youtube, pick just about any christian band that has any small bit of a secular following (i.e. rock, hardcore, rap, metal) and read comments, you'll find the droids you're looking for.....

One of my favourite bands is a christain rock band and I never see anti-theism comments on their YT vids... I guess they aren't 'explicitly' christian though, and the references in their lyrics are usually subtle.

slightly off-topic, but what band? :)

So 30% of people in several european countries, for example, are mostly rebillious teens?

No. Most of the angry argumentative atheists on the internet are rebellious teens.*

The reason why there are lots of atheists in predominantly christian areas of the world is because those areas happen to be, for the most part, more developed. As a country gets more developed education gets better, there's more religious freedom, free speech etc. access to the internet... all these things relate to atheism. It's getting harder and harder for people to be sheltered, or not interact with people with vastly different views, or not have access to studies/research/books etc.

And to say "atheists only really exist in Christian dominated areas of the world" isn't true. Atheism may be most popular in those developed christian nations (for reasons stated above, among others), but it's still growing almost everywhere, and has a large presence in many asian and SA countries.. A quick look at demographics will show you that.

Cold War Kids. Indie/alt rock, kind of have a "vintage" feel to their music... so quite hipster lol.

Teens grow up ya know.

But ya, tis the price of religious freedom. Numbersw will decline over time for each religion. I can only think of one religion that still forces conversts today.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I've always been an atheist (as in skeptic/none-believer - I'm not denying any deity) as has my family, so I wouldn't know how to handle the whole situation you're in. One thing could be to not bring up the existence of any potential god during thanksgiving, or any other family gathering for that matter. That tends to rub religious people the wrong way. Just try to stay out of those conversations...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

As long as you don't try to shove your views about why you don't believe in god or why I shouldn't believe down my throat then I don't mind listening to others views.

...and apparently are still athiests? Does that make them rebellious adults? lol

I would bet most atheists are the apathetic kind, like badger knome. Or something in the middle like me.

Slayer, as has been thrown about here, you aren't an atheist, you are an agnostic. You aren't saying their isn't a God, you are saying that you would need proof to believe in one. If this is your stance, I would see little reason for conflict. Being an evangelical atheist...that I could see would bring conflict...and is somewhat ironic.

I think most atheists are born that way, much like being hetrosexual, without the God gene you don't have a choice
