I don't think it had much to do with it. It's just a bad time of the year to be selling WiiU's. Sales will pick up in time and variations right now are not too significant.

If it had an effect that`s great. It means that people are willing to buy a Wii U if the games are there. It would be bad if it didn`t have any effect.

Amazon dropped the price for the Wii U in Germany to 249 € for the basic model and 299 € for the Premium Package. I think that might have something to do with the increased sales. The prices are a bit higher now but you can still get a Wii U for 249 € here and there.

WiiU is getting lots of price promotions right now in Europe.

Only reason I can think of is that they ordered too many consoles and now try to clean some space.

310€ and less for the Premium, 260€ for the Basic. 40€ off I think from the standard price.
Converted to dollar (and subtracting VAT): $336 for Premium, $282 for Basic.
