What reason is there to buy any console? The games! Uncharted, God of War, Little Big Planet, Infamous, Killzone, and so one.

ha ha, I did buy my PS3 as it was the cheapest bluray player on the market at the time, which came with added advantage of playing some awesome games - so I know where you're coming from with this thread. If PS4 doesn't have a new optical medium, it will be less attractive than the PS3 was, but it will still have excellent games which will justify purchasing it.

But a lot of people did buy the PS3 as a Blu-ray player.

I'm curious of what technology Sony will be introducing with the next PlayStation.

If those were the only legitimate reasons to buy a console no one would've ever bought any console made by Nintendo!

No, but it did have the Wii Remote.  The PS3 had Blu-Ray, which early in its life was a primary selling point.
