well yeah I can't argue with that ... It surely will be impressive... But Ace combat can put out nice graphics even with an outdated console like the ps3... I'm just saying that there won't be a visible jump in the next gen...

Seriously, what is with you Nintendo guys?  No visible jump in next gen?  What would be the point of new systems, then?  I know you're praying for that, but it won't happen.  Not when the majority of games this gen were sub-HD.  Next gen, not only will 1080P be the standard, but it will also come with much higher poly counts and higher res textures.  So yes, there is going to be quite the visible leap from the PS4/NeXbox.

Nintendo fans never said there woudn't be a jump. They said that the jump won't be as big as people are saying. They pushed 1080p/60FPS as the standard for next gen just llike you are.

That's EXACTLY what hivycox was saying, though.  "There won't be a visible jump."  I think the jump is going to end up surprising you guys.  I'm also wondering how Nintendo fans can be pushing 1080P/60FPS as a standard, when the Wii U is not going to have that as a standard?  Most of the games on the Wii U will probably end up being 720P, maybe less, like the PS3/360.

hivycox is in the minority. And Nintendo fans said that mostly before the Wii U launched, also iirc, two 3rd party launch games are in 1080p (not sure about FPS though). 3rd party PS360 ports will be in the same resolution that they're in on those systems, and nobody knows what Nintendo's games will be in.

Just to show how Sony wants to push 4k.

The new update for Sony PlayMemories Studio supports 4k resolutions... on PS3.

4k is part of the core marketing for the Sony.

Yeah but will it really be full force on the PS4? I doubt it.

4k support =/= 4k game support.
As another user pointed out, it's rumored not to have HDMI 2.0 therefore it can't run games at 4k.

Please... read what the other user said... HDMI supports 4k resolution in 24/30fps... just not 60fps.

And we will see Super Stardus 4k for sure... Sony needs that for marketing.

Again folks, you are interpreting it wrong.

I never said Sony will push 4k for games... I said some PSN games will have 4k support for sure and heavy push 4k for movies.

Super Stardust 4k will be a game to run in 4k.

Sony needs that for marketing... to sell 4k HDTVs.

No - Sony does not need some random crappy game for marketting. That doesn't make sense.

No offense but Nintendo has always been late to the party when it came to the promises of scale in console titles vs the competition. Their consoles generally couldn't process as much and western devs have always had a huge gripe with Nintendo about that. Devs want to push animations, scale of the maps and environments. Newer engines are being created with newer tools, that Nintendo platforms always seems to be either too late for or are never powerful enough to fully realize. Nintendo has their experience and the other consoles have theirs. This is how its been for almost two decades now and Nintendo doesn't seem to want to change.

ummmm Wii and Wii U=/=always.

The GCN, N64 and SNES were powerful systems.

Perhaps I should change that to the period after the playstation launched.

PS1 era= N64 was behind because of discs were the new way to go. Nintendo feared piracy so they stuck with cartridges. That marked the end of the Nintendo lockdown era where Nintendo held third parties down ruling with an iron fist.

PS2 era= Nintendo used discs that couldnt hold as much space even though they had better graphics than the PS2, the PS2 could still hold more.

Wii= A generation in power all around. Nuff said.

Next gen= will be outclassed on all fronts just like this gen.

By having a game running in 4K they can make the blanket statement "Gaming in 4K resolution!" plus many other such marketing and PR crap to sell their 4K TVs, perhaps even bundle a PS4 with it (they did with HDTVs and PS3).

Might not work on us here as we read VGChartz or other game related sites/publications, but for people with more money then sense? Some will buy into it.

PS4 cannot do 4K at anything over 24hz, it does not have displayport, just HDMI1.4, which can support 4k but only at 24hz, which would look awful.
The increase to 4k would require more video memory than the PS4 has available for anything other than a very basic game but given that the ownership rates of 4K displays are less than 0.1% worldwide right now, no studio in their right mind, first party or otherwise, would waste their time optimizing a game to run at 4k when no matter how well their code is, it would be limited to 24hz, and you could fit the global population of 4k display owners who might buy the game into a single room.

If you continue to spout nonsense about the possibility of 4K on the PS4 for anything other than trade-show tech demos (a-la 4 screen GT4), i will be forced to assume you rode the short bus.
