Forums - Nintendo - Monolith Soft Discuss Their Close Relationship With Nintendo

Aww, it's nice to hear that. Hopefully, Nintendo is the same way with the other studios they work with like MIstwalker. It's been awhile since we heard about the other studios but still...

There are so many things different between that example and this one:

. It's not the same Nintendo as then, not the same management.

. Rare was Brittish, monolith is Japanese. The culture shock is lesser.

. Rare was a wild horse, it's a surprise Nintendo got them to work on their franchises for so long. The strain between Dino Planet's direction and Nintendo's direction, the need to do something totally not Nintendo (Conker) made it a stretch for the traditional Nintendo I'm sure.

. Monolith is working on its own IPs, and always has. Nintendo hasn't meddled as much as with Rare as I understand it.

It's just too different to compare like that, but with the relationship increasing, the odds of there being more tension also increases.

Awesome, i'd really love to see something by them appear on the 3DS

Here's hoping we can get some increased output from them. All they put out last gen was Xenoblade, which was amazing, but im hoping for more than just X this time around

Games are fun.

Some concept art for a 3DS project was released earlier.  Not a sure thing, but it seems pretty likely.

Monolith are 96% owned by Nintendo :)

Rare was 49%. Nintendo did a good thing selling Rare - they got free money since everyone left.

This is good news.
