Forums - Nintendo - IGN: Wii U's struggle to remain relevant

Tagged games:

In a way this article is non-sensical because there is nothing Nintendo could do, alone or with 3rd parties to create new content between now and Q3. HD games just take too long to develop.

WiiU is caught in a death spiral Wii managed to avoid. Without content it can't sell systems, without system sales it won't get (3rd party) content. This is particularly damaging because right now games are starting development that will come out in two-three years time. If I was a developer, looking at WiiU right now, I'd skip it myself and focus on PS4/720 or maybe 3DS, iOS/Android. Stalling out like this for pretty much it's entire first year (presumably unless Nintendo surprises us with Mario Kart or Smash Bros coming out in Q2) will doom it's entire life cycle to pathetic support.

... you know, guys, if you read what he actually wrote, it's not a DOOM article.

he still shouldn't have hyped his news on twitter for no reason at all. It would've been fine if it was just this.

The article seems pretty on point if you ask me.

The Wii U will Ultimately end up as a sUccessful console that offers yoU, the Users, a variety of gameplay options.

Doesn't matter. This man has lost all credibility forever. Words he writes are no more than any other worthless digital filth clogging up the internet.

.. OK, I guess.  Not actually sure how to respond to that.  However, that wasn't a Jim Sterling piece, where he's just being as negative as possible in order to cause a stir.  Nothing he said was wrong.

IGN died for me today...

Because they put up an article stating the obvious? That the Wii U's outlook for the next few months looks bleak, but has plenty of options to bring it back over time?

If anything, this is worse than Jim Sterling, because the latter is almost entertaining about it. This guy is like a poisonous weed, and the PRC had a solution for poisonous weeds once upon a time.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I can't wait to see more reactionary pissing and moaning like this from people who just read the title. -_-

Can someone summarize this into 1 sentence? Preferably, in 1 word.
