I don't know... would you consider Smash a new IP? What about Mario Kart? |

Why did anyone even get hyped over his Tweet? I sure as hell didn't! |
Because sales are tanking, no games are releasing anytime soon and the future looks bleak. People will cling to something like this with hope, if theyre attached to the product/company thats being talked about.
Anyone who reads the OP can clearly see that hes a Nintendo fan. Its not like hes baiting people, just doing his job. People assumed wrong and assumption is the mother of all fuck ups.

Wii U sales are low at this point and you see many including me pointing it out, why? Because it is unexpected. Give it a month or two and people will stop pointing/laughing at Wii U sales either because they'll be better by then or because it's become a trend. Another thing, don't compare the Wii U to PS3. Wii U will not get the level of support the PS3 got. Combine that with the fact that Nintendo consoles peak very early.....I think the Wii U doom and gloom are articles are not only justified but they are worth discussing. Nintendo's 1st party software alone isn't enough to make their console competiive. Just look at the Gamecube. |
I think the Gamecube and XBox lost the gen before it even began. The PS2 was a behemoth the likes of we'll never see again.
The PS3 and Wii U comparison is valid. They both struggled in the early going. However, you're right about the PS3 getting a lot of support. You have the 360 to thank for that.

Smash is debatable. Mario Kart was just a spinoff that got really, really big - but it's still Mario IP

And we all know what assuming does...

He said it was interesting Wii U related news... And it sure as hell is. He did nothing wrong really. He never said it was positive. He never said it was news exclusive to Wii U. He never told you to get as hyped as you seemingly did. |
He knew full well what he was doing, and any respectable institution would've given him a pink slip.
But of course it's games journalism, so he'll probably get promoted (off of the Nintendo page).
Just as planned...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

What do you mean by part 47?
Wii = blue ocean product. Completely experience changing control mechanism that made games accessible to non-gamers like women and grand parents, etc. etc. Plus it was the "hot" item for a couple of years.
Wii U = read ocean product. This is Nintendo's PS3/360, the problem is those systems are 6-7 years old and cheaper with a bigger instal base and more games. Touchscreen on the controller doesn't radically change the experience. Sales to date have been poor even with a Mario game and Nintendo Land.

Nintendo are lazy and you don't care is a famous IGN column berating Nintendo and anyone who dared buy NSMB Wii.
I'm joking by saying this is yet another in a long line of similar stunts by them.
