Forums - Gaming - North Korean propaganda uses Modern Warfare 3 footage to show New York under attack

VG247

North Korean propaganda network Uriminzokkiri has created a seemingly anti-American propaganda video, containing footage of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 that shows New York City being bombarded by missiles.

The clip was unearthed by LiveLeak, and the site explains that the video was uploaded on Saturday on behalf of North Korea’s state media. It comes days before an alleged nuclear test will be carried out by the country.

It features a cover of “We Are the World” by Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson, and shows a young man dreaming of a rocket going into space – an achievement of the country back in December – which then cuts to a scene of New York being attacked from Modern Warfare 3.

The text allegedly then reads, “Somewhere in the United States, black clouds of smoke are billowing. It seems that the nest of wickedness is ablaze with the fire started by itself.”

The clip ends with the man stating that surely dream will “surely come true”.

Now, bear in mind that none of us here speak Korean, so do take LiveLeak’s translation of the above lightly. We’re looking into confirming what the text says.

We’re also pretty sure that Activision hasn’t given Uriminzokkiri permission to use the clip, but what are your thoughts?

Thanks Kotaku.

Truly amateurs, MW2 has far more convincing footage of the White House being under attack.

lol why they hate on US when they have South Korea beneath them, essentially a more prosperous, economical, and 1st world nation. Samsung and Hyundai say hi :)

Surely North Korea be jealous of them first.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

So, New York is located in the middle of an ocean? (2:00)

Should have used Homefront...

They do, but they see SK as a state propped up by the US.

The second Korean War was actually an attempt by the North Korean's to get South Korea on board with reunification back in the 1960's.  Basically the NK's infiltrated SK and tried to persuade SK's  of the benefits of the North.  Problem was, at this time, roughly ten years after the original Korean War ended, the South was far more prosperous than the North.  Regardless of how SK's felt about the Park government, they had no interest in a communist government.

They also attempted to create a wedge between the US and SK, but the actions of the NKs instead drove the two nations closer together creating the long-standing friendship we have today.

Should have outbid Crytek for the license. Homefront 2 made by North Koreans would be awesome. Actually it would be shit, but still awesome.

I am literally laughing out loud (LOL) at how pathetic the North Korean government is. Great find OP!!!!
