May can't come soon enough. Oh yeah I forgot my PS3 is YLOD. :(

To inform you both, Naughty Dog said this was still Alpha (though I think it's just you two, as the graphics look their sharpest yet). To look that good in that stage is saying a lot, because most complete console titles don't look that good. Come release, I expect graphics awards across the board (as is the natural order of things with this team). |
I didn't say it was not good and can only judge what is presented - if they show a game in alpha-stage it is not my problem. I said that it looks very good but some things don't; no critic allowed? And yes, it looks better than most other games and yes, it may happen that it will win graphics awards but this doesn't mean graphics look perfect in every aspect.

It's just you.

Who says that? Lol dayum |
The Greg Miller IGN article, paragraph immediately under the second video. Check it out before someone proof reads it an corrects it.
"There were two types of infected in my demo. If you’re just joining us, a fungal virus is infecting humans. It grows through their eye sockets, takes over their minds, and makes them into distorted monsters."
He actually says it in the video, but I chose to overlook because he was all excited and speaking off the cuff. But to write it, man obviously no one at IGN knows a thing about microbiology.
“The fundamental cause of the trouble is that in the modern world the stupid are cocksure while the intelligent are full of doubt.” - Bertrand Russell

The Runners: Stage 1 Infection
They are very fast and attack in packs. Neil Druckmann states ""They can still see, and they still have a sense of humanity. They almost know consciously what they're doing, but they can't control themselves. "They run fast, they can take you down, and they work in packs." They don't pose too much of a threat by themselves but it's a different story if confronted by many.
They can still see you so it's best to avoid their line of sight. Turning off your flashlight around them will help. These are more like the Infected from 28 Days Later.
??? : Stage 2 Infection
There isn't any info on the second stage of infection yet but I would assume the picture below might be it. As far as their abilities, my guess is that they are just as fast as the Runners and release spores into the air seeing how Joel has a gas mask.
The Clickers: Stage 3 Infection
These are the same types as the ones seen in the VGA 2011 debut trailer. "As the fungus spreads, it takes over more and more of the biology of the human. It grows out of the eye sockets, and it makes you go blind. This is a fate worse than death," Druckmann explained. "You're still alive, but you have to suffer through this pain."
"They're called clickers because they use echolocation. They scan the environment using sound waves… if there's any movement detected, they're on you," Druckmann described. "They might be a little slower, but when they're on you, they're going to be rabid. When they touch you, you're gone."
The Clickers are blind and cannot see you so it's best to distract them by throwing bottles and sneaking past them. You can use a Shiv to easily sneak up on them for an instant silent kill. Taking them out one by one will be easier but it's best to avoid them when necessary.
Eventually, the fungus takes over the body completely. In the gameplay demo that was recently played, "a body was grafted onto the wall, as the bulbs outstretched beyond the body" said a previewer.
From Kotaku,
"Before leaving Druckmann, I ask if there's anything beyond the Clickers, a level of infection even more terrifying than Stage 3. Like a man who takes a bit too much pleasure in scaring the pants off people, he shoots me a sly look and says "Yeah, there's more stuff...oh yeah."

I really hope they remove that stupid lock on circle they showed and the ammo icons in the final version. It really bugs me for some reason and it puts me away from the realism and atmosphere of the game. Why don't they just stick to the E3 interface. No stupid circle and collectables and interactive items were highlighted instead of having a stupid icon...

This looks more like how the game will look like remember the first ever video the VGA 2011 one? With the leaves at the window etc? It was hilarious that people thought that was ingame graphics. It was a prerendered IN-ENGINE Video running on a PS3 in bluray mode hence their "directly captured from a PS3" instead of "ingame graphics" or "rendered on PS3 hardware".
It was a nice way to let people think thats ingame graphics without lying :)
