There's very little brand loyalty especially in North America. The PS3 proved that this generation, since it sold poorly in comparison to the PS2. The majority of consumers are price conscious, and will go with the cheaper or better value console.

Joke or not, it is in bad taste. It is also not going to be taken in the context of the thread as people who are unaware of the thread will only take what is posted there at face value.

OT: People say a lot of things. We will all see what will happen when the time comes. I believe 3 systems worked out pretty well this generation; can't see why we shouldn't want that to continue.

I don't see how Sony gave anyone anything this generation. It is just the way things worked out due to the decisions made.

Exactly the point I was making but for some reason there seems to be an awful lot of questioning Sony euro sales while people just casually say ms wins North America without even acting like its a bold statement

Ya, like someone posted above, it really all comes down to price and when they are launched.  If MS and SONY launch at the same time at similar prices, then it will be an all out war on who comes out on top.  The only thing that could move it in sony's favor is if they have the most killer launch lineup of first party games, free online, and maybe ps+.  The only reason sony lost NA is because it was $600 and launched a year later, simple as that. And maybe not too many great games either.  

All it takes is for MS to screw up the nextbox launch like sony did and Sony could easily start to take NA back during the new gen. 

Here's the thing, not 1 region is locked down to Xbox, Playstation or Nintendo. Sure, each brand would have an advantage going into the next-gen due to higher brand recognition in their respective regions, it is a far cry from being "locked-down". Even the PS2 which was the most dominant console in history didn't have any region on lock-down. The Xbox was able to sell about 20million in America as a new entry into the console wars. If a NEW console can do that, then an already established brand can EASILY gain back some lost ground going into a new generation. Everyone gets lucky once in a while.(Example: Nintendo Wii)

Microsoft has been pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into ad campaigns for the US over the last few years, there's a reason they've stayed dominant there. Sony on the other hand seems to only be focusing on Europe and letting games like Twisted Metal and LBP Karting release in the US with barely a marketing campaign. Sony can win back America, but they just don't have the funds right. Japan seems to be going completely on Nintendo thanks to Dragon Quest and Monster Hunter, so Sony should just hold onto Europe.
