Forums - Gaming - Madden 25 announced ( not coming to Wii U?)

Madden has to come to every console per the NFL contract. So this is missing several other platforms.

EVERY console? Ouya? N64? I'm sure they can justify commercial nonviability in the case of the Vita this year if they wanted.

Unless the contract names some specific consoles or conditions. I tried looking for some and no result.

3DS version had poor sales, because it was a stripped down piece of garbage.  I know that for a fact, because I saw it at Barnes & Noble for $7.50 and I gave it a try.  Even at that price, it was a waste.  And when you look at install bases, a higher percentage of Wii U owners bought Madden than 360 or PS3 owners in your comparison.  I just picked up Madden 13 for Wii U last Friday, and it's not bad.  Others might be balking though because EA didn't put their new physics engine in the Wii U game that the 360/PS3 versions got.

Those are Madden sales from the PS3 and 360 launch.  Not current sales.  The Wii U version has sold to 2.1% of owners.  The PS3 version sold to 28.7% at week 9.  The 360 to 21.8% at 9 weeks.  They aren't even in the same ballpark.

Even for current gen after 9 weeks (which doesn't include the holidays, and of course has a much bigger install base) the 360 managed 3.0% and the PS3 4.0% (though from Nintendo's top 20 USA chart, it seems it might actually be undertracked).

What modern online features hasn't Nintendo implemented?
Cross-game chat is the only I can think of.

Single online account.

Isn't EA contractually obligated to release on all consoles? I'd expect Madden to be on Wii and Vita even unless they are discontinued before then.

Only if they hit a sales threshold with the previous years version, clearly the 3DS also missed the threshold since there hasn't been a 3DS madden since the Launch of the system.

oh really? didn't realize there was  threshold. Interesting. Any source for that?

You mean the Vita version that had a simultaneous release with the other versions? The Vita version that released to a console with an actual install base (albeit a small one) in America?

So what about the 360 version in '05 and the PS3 version in '06 that both launched late to consoles with no install base.  Also the Vita version is about 10x higher than the Wii U version.  Also so far in 2013 the Vita version is outselling the Wii U 4.2:1 at a time when their install bases are now relatively close and of course release date no longer matters.  Of course, the Vita does have a bundle which muddies the numbers.  However if someone is buying a VIta for Madden that probably counts for something.

to bad for those who care about sports games and was planning to get them on WiiU

me don't care about sports games so meh

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

And when both the xbox3/PS4 sell like crap, is EA going to cut that support too.

Did the 360 not have an obvious instant selling point of being the only HD version? A simple yet large difference visually between versions. The Wii U version had no such selling point.

If people are buying Vitas for Madden, that speaks more to the kind of people who buy Vitas than it does the supposed unviability of the Wii U.

EA must really hate nintendo

Irony is that it's clear post-launch that Nintendo probably should have taken Origin and at least got modern online features.

As a frequent user of Origin I say HELL NO to Origin. If there would be an award for most pisspoor service Origin would be the undisputed winner. Don't believe me? Take a look at the Origin forums. For shits and giggles go to the bugs and issues page. Almost 12000!!!! topics. For every thing that's wrong with Wii U there are about a 1000 things wrong with Origin.
