I doubt that anybody thinks it is doomed (seriously?) before the big IPs arrive. But lets face it, everyone was expecting the next big thing ( at least when it comes to investors) and it didn't deliver. Its selling at an average level, it launched first, and the competitors will probably launch far more advanced devices ( tech wise).

Its not doomed, far from it, but anyone who does not sees the issues with its launch, and the uncertainty of its future is just fooling itself.

Isnt the WiiU already selling less per week than the PS3 or 360 ever did?

Yeah and it happened in January where sales are relatively high. It's only going to be worse for the Wii U for the next few weeks. So yeah it's pretty bad.

Launch window numbers -- PS3 -- 1.612M. Xbox 360 -- 1.345M. WiiU -- 2.471M (with probably one more week of January data).

This is for November to January of the launch window, global sales.

Did you know these numbers are not launch for PS3... that's just US and JP... you have to add more 1 million at least for EU PS3 launch.

Yes, PS3 at least is missing the EU numbers. Despite that, both PS3 and X360 were supplied constrained. Wii U isn't, there is a lot of units in stock.

The difference is that Wii U`s weekly sales, as of now, are below the lowest weekly sales by PS3 and Xbox 360.
Fortunately, it`s something Nintendo has already it will be corrected starting March.
More, if Wii U had more original games at launch sales probably wouldn`t have fallen that much. In terms of quality Wii U`s launch line-up is one of the best, it´s just that it`s mainly ports - and some even really old ports.
I think that in terms of original titles Wii did better at launch.

Yes I discovered this, which is worrying.

I wonder if the large gap between generations left considerable long term damage on the video game market.

I don't think you can judge a system in it's first year. At the one year mark, look at the previous year(system sales+game libary) and look at what is comming in year two, then start talking about 'doom' or not

It might be selling poorly but I LOVE the WiiU. It genuinely gives me so much life and I think the more people that experience it the more people will buy. The graphics are truly gorgeous and the Gamepad is just such a blast to play. I don't care who wins the gen sales wise, I'm just over-joyed at my purchase :)

It's all about demand man. Sadly there isn't that much right now. At launch people should at least want the system even if it's too expensive for them.

Wii U will be doomed as long as something other is doomed.
