Kids who want Ipads are like dogs chasing after cars. They don't know why they want it, they don't know what to do with it, but seeing other dogs chase that same car, all they know is that they also want it.

Most kids play the crap out of 4 or 5 crappy games for like 2 or 3 weeks then they get bored and stop playing when they realise they can't expect much more than the games they havealready been playing for a while.

I used to play free games and this is very true.  However, I never owned an iPad/iPod etc.  I was mainly playing on the PC at the time (I had no money).

What you did was miss a learning opportunity for your kid: Li'l dude! Apple is for drones who don't know better. You wanna tablet? Here's a Nexus 7, and look we have change to buy a Mercedes Benz and take go on an ocean cruise holiday.

First rule of electronics, never cave in to a kids demand for an iAnything. Buy an iThing because you've decided it's the best purchase for your money, not because someone who doesn't know anything other than the name begs for one.

Not to say you should shove your desires down their throat, but rather talk things over and come to a mutually agreed decision about the best place to put your money.

Your kid is clearly faulty, you should get a replacement unit.

You'll have to upgrade to the retina iPad mini though, you don't him looking at pokemons in sub retina resolution.
