Forums - Gaming - I betrayed Nintendo!: And bought my kid an ipad Mini instead- I sold my 3DS for this?

I have an iPad from work ... my son plays on it.
We have a family PC ... which is in my son's room so he plays on that.
He got a 3DS for his birthday a couple of years ago ... so my son plays on that.
Santa brought him and the family a WiiU ... so he plays on that.

He also plays (or has played) Game Cube, N64, SNES, NES, DS, GBA, GB, PS2, PSX, Xbox, .... Atari 2600, Intellivision.

Of course I was a bad parent once, I let him play the Virtual Boy.

Yes I think it is. But so is putting ice cream on pies in some States, and beastiality. But it still happens.


Even if jailbreaking is not illegal, ROM ownership may be (if you don't have the original). So emulation is a very gray area.

Slimy bastards for sure. I stay the hell away from those games. I keep hoping the failure of Zynga will discourage good developers from being seduced by the model, but for every company that burns to the ground with F2P, another one soars like a phoenix.

Same reason why my younger brother got an iPad Mini for Christmas. And he had a choice between Vita or 3DS.He's 13 and has Wii, DS, PS3 and PSP.

This is what I've been warning about. For a lot of people tablets and cheap Android consoles will be 'good enough' gaming devices (while being a whole lot more). Stats showed last year iPads were top of kids wishlist with consoles down the list.

People on this site don't realize how much trouble their beloved pastime will be in in the next few years.

I'm sure theres a way for you to put some emulators on it and your kid can still play mario games there!
